Iretired a number of years ago after spending the majority of my career workingin testing and calibration labs and relocated to the northeast. I wrote calibration procedures and was thecalibration procedure release focal for the largest aerospace manufacture inthe U.S.A. My main area of expertise was in dimensional metrology. I alsoparticipated in writing many ASME B89 dimensional metrology standards.
1.)Onoscillator pc board, set oscillator to 5kHz (within factory spec +/- 200Hz)(using Hewlett Packard 53131A Universal Counter) and output to 1.00 V (usingKeithley 177 Digital Multimeter).
2.)CheckedBourns (wire-wound) zeroing potentiometer for erratic operation with Keithley 177Digital Multimeter. Repair, clean or replace, as necessary.
3.)Cleanand lubricate TRW/Cinch 8 pin sockets.
4.)Cleanedknobs.
5.)a.Set front panel “CAL” (200 ohm) potentiometers to middle of the range.
1.)Depressing the gage head, I was able to deflect the meter momentfrom left to right of full scale. (NOTE: For purposes of the photos, I simplyused the reversing switch on the gaging amplifier.)
2.)Using a Boeckeler 20 millionths micrometer head, I was able toperform a initial calibration and adjustment of the “gain” potentiometer on theamplifier on the +/-.010” range per the instruction manual.
