If you're looking to make a 'backup' of your dvd's, I'm using handbrake so I can keep it portable on my storm.

settings I'm using:
Video output 480 x whatever it'll autoformat to
FPS 25 (PAL Film/Video)
Format mp4
Average Bitrate 1248

I am using DVD FAB 5 to rip DVD's to my Storm via MPEG-4 format.

However no matter what setting I use, such as IPOD or PSP, etc...and change the resolution to be that of the Storm screen, I always get the same picture size which is half of the screen at most.

How do I make the picture full screen, or at minimum, larger than it currently is to utilize the Storm screen to its potential.

The Storm screen is a 4:3 not a 16:9 and therefore if you are watching a widescreen video on the storm it will not show full screen, unless you crop come of the picture off or stretch it to fit.

I tried Handbrake but can't get it to rip the dvd... the cmd prompt comes on, but after about 10 seconds it closes and handbrake says encoding finished... is it write protect on the disc preventing it from ripping?

Now there are many software to resolve the problem, such as Xilisoft WMA MP3 Converter ,ImTOO WMA MP3 Converter, MP4converter MP4 to MP3 Converter and etc. I use MelodyCan

what is the exact version of video does the storm play? some videos don't seem to play. is there an improved media player available?

As suggested above, you can use Handbrake for ripping. But I'm also using it as a video converter. Works quite well. A one stop shop for all my video ripping and converting needs.

I just reviewed this app and it seems to work pretty well:

Confessions of a freeware junkie: Easy video conversion...again: Clone2Go Video Converter Freeware 1.3.8 (looks the same as Any Video Convert - actually it seems subpar as far as conversion output formats are concerned!)

You would have to create a custom profile to do this. Buying the pro version would give you all the profiles built in.

However, with that said, you can use these settings on any other converter and it should work.

MP4

Video codec: mpeg4
Video size: 480x320 (Storm resolution is actually 480x360)
Video bitrate: 300
Video framerate: 15

Audio codec: aac
Audio bitrate: 80
Audio sample rate: 44100
Channels: 2
Disable stream: no
Av sync: basic

AVI

Video codec: h.263
Video size: 480x320 (Storm resolution is actually 480x360)
Video bitrate: 256
Video framerate: 15

Audio codec: mp3
Audio bitrate: 64
Audio sample rate: 44100
Channels: 2
Disable stream: no
Av sync: basic

Hope that helps someone!

Sorry to drum up an old topic. I've had my phone for just under a week now. Anyway, I've gone round and round trying all the different converters that I found on the net that were supposed to work with the Storm. So far I haven't had any luck with any of them...and that was using what was suggested for settings.
Clone2go so far as I tried just the free trial version to see if the 3min download would work. To my suprise...it did work. SO guess I will purchase this program as it was nice to have a one program setup to do this. Prior to I was having to download a ripping program, then a conversion. Uggg most of the programs were taking anywhere from an hour to 3 hours. I don't have the patience!

Anyway, cool forum thus far. I've read a few other topics to help get up to speed on this model.

I just converted wall-e onto my storm and the video is flawless. Just make sure you convert a high quality vid to begin with.

So if I have burned DVDs in my collection, can I put them on my Storm using this software?
