Working fine on all of my three bolds I've had.

As previously posted seems to work for some and for some others not.

Hope google will release a new GMM version soon ;)

Downloading and installing with the Desktop Manager, works amazing :) thank you thank you

this is my third bold after having problems with the first two, but on both of them could download google maps, on this one I couldn't after speaking to orange and blackberry, I did not have a solution. However I stumbled across this thread and I used the application loader on the desktop manager which I was not sure how to do and it worked perfectly. Thanks guys.

Apparently you cannot download from google because they may have issues with the newer version of software on the later bolds according to orange and blackberry. if this helps anyone.

Gotcha... works like charm

Takes a while to load the first time when determining your location

Any possibility of having it work ONLY on wifi? i turn off my cell radio and only have wifi on, and it wont load anything. checked every setting i could, still doesn't want to work over only wifi, works fine on 3G.

I have a very small data plan, and can get access to hundreds of wifi spots around me, even metro wifi, so it'd be nice have an option for it to only use wifi.

I got mine to work by using DM and doing the BES install linked above.

Any help and or statements? Only Wifi possible with Google Mobile Maps?

I dunno... I'm on Bold number 3 after 11 days, and the only thing I installed on both 1 and 2 was google maps. Now it's not letting me download it. If Google says it's incompatible, I figure I shoudn't be forcing it on there.

crazylegs 09-03-2008 09:39 PM

It's working fine for me. set internet browser to "firefox" identification, then google "google maps 2.2" - you"ll find pinstack and there is a link to install 2.2.2 i clicked on the top link the first time and it did not install, but after clicking on the bottom link on that page, it installed perfectly and works great. the new processor and 3G makes this thing much speedier.

google maps on a bold

Hi All,

It seems that I found out how to solve the freeze problem of GMM when asking for permission.

Please try the following:

- Wipe your Bold
How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

- Reinstall the OS
- Ask your IT Admin to reactivate your BB account
- restart your device and the FIRST THING YOU HAVE TO DO IS: install GMM
- after installation fire it up. It should work and also please check under setup --> advanced options --> applications the applications rights if they are all on allow.

If that is all fine start your enterprise activation and be happy with a Bold with GMM running ;)

I hope this will solve the problem on some devices.

Got it working by download BES version and installing through PocketMac.

I've attached the alx and cod file here. I had to edit the alx file because it didn't have the 4.6 OS version.

Thanks for posting that....worked on mine!

peeq 09-09-2008 01:12 PM

For me, it simply would not download for the longest time, then by some miracle it worked for the download but hung at 10% when trying to load.

peeq 09-09-2008 01:13 PM

The fix for me was downloading the latest firmware. .134 got google maps running perfectly.
