Stop holster un-lock

I have a 8520, how do I stop the phone unlocking when I remove it from the case. I seem to cancel calls or switch off the phone when removing from the case. It's driving me crazy.

The solution is as follows:-
Lock your device when you insert it in the holster

1.On the Home screen or in a folder, click the Options icon.
2.Click Password.
3.Change the Lock Handheld Upon Holstering field to Yes.
4.Press the Menu key.
5.Click Save.

No, it doesn't make sense. Regardless whether lock when holstering is enabled or not, what is the point if the BlackBerry unlocks when ANYONE removes it from the holster. It doesn't add up.

Re: Stop holster un-lock

I admit it does seem strange but it works for me.
Now when I remove my phone from its holster (one with internal magnet) it remains locked. And in the process I no longer accidently activate any buttons – especially the ones that switch off the phone or cancel any incoming calls.

To recap my settings >“Options” > “Password” are as follows:-
Password: Disabled
Number Password Attempts: 10
Security Timeout: 30 Min
Prompt on Application Install: No
Lock Handheld Upon Holstering: Yes

In fact the only thing I changed from the default was the last option above.
It did not seem the correct conclusion, but for some reason it was the one I was looking for as I have said above.

Perhaps this is just specific to the 8520, (I would doubt that)

I hope this helps other members.

Password Disabled. Have you been talking about the keyboard lock?

I needed to ensure the keypad remained locked when in the holster, and remained so when taken out - so yes it was a keyboard lock issue.

There's a difference between the keypad lock and the password lock.

Which are you asking about?

Keyboard lock can on some BB's depending on the OS level keep you from answering a call because all keys are locked.
If you do not use a device password then you would need to remove the phone and press the keyboard lock icon to do anything if you lock it. As aiharkness indicated it does leave it open to someone using the phone.

Lock the keyboard
If you do not set a BlackBerry device password, you can lock your keyboard to avoid making calls and pressing keys accidentally.
On the Home screen, click the Keyboard Lock icon
