Help! 543 Error on 8300. Should I give up?

Being the anal person I am I purchased a used 8300 off ebay with 102 Error at boot up. Knowing this is a software issue I quickly purchased it knowing I'm smart enough to fix and resell at a profit. WRONG!! I have followed every thread I can find for wiping and reloading OS. JL_CMDR , javaloader -u wipe, javaloader -usb wipe, have tried loading 3 different 8300 OSes. It is always either stuck in the boot loop, or finally goes to error 543. Well I did get rid of error 102. LOL
I am at my wits end, I even decided that someone may have switched housings and put and 8300 housing on either a 8310 or 8320 but the label clearly states 8300 and since I have never gotten it to boot I cannot look internally. Besides I know the OS would not load at all if it wasn't an 8300. Apploader always says the update was successful and then we go back to boot looping or error 543, any insight would be grateful since this is really stressing me out. :? I have wiped and reloaded the OS at least 7 times in the last 24 hours.

Also I have removed Desktop Manager 4.3 and reinstalled 4.2 since the new one is such a pain. It made absolutely no difference so I went back to 4.3 so I could install the beta on my 8310.

Also my usb cable is directly connected to my laptop and not via a hub. I also removed the battery and left it out overnight hoping that would help since it worked for my old 7130c when I thought I had killed it once, that didn't work either.

Noone has anymore insite on this? Should I just give up on fixing it or should I keep trying?

jsconyers 04-23-2008 03:21 PM

A Google search shows this for error 543:

543 VM_FS_MISMATCH: Incompatible Java filesystem installed The VM has detected that the OS binary is different than the OS binary used to create the Java file system. This means that the Java native methods may not be linked properly and as such, the integrity of the system cannot be guaranteed. The system can be recovered by using the VM DLFX and DLPS commands to delete the fixups and persistent store. This will clear all data and fixups and let the filesystem relink to match the new OS binary. The recovery order is important: 1) Delete Fixups 2) Delete Persistent Store 3) Reset device.

RIM's solution is this: BlackBerry smartphone displays error 543

I don't know how much this helps you. Good luck.

This just gets better and better! LOL

I have followed all steps in the links above to no avail, however I have stumbled across something interesting. While messing around with JL-CMDR I decided to click on factory reset to see what happens and it says I need OS 4.3 to factory reset. This gets more and more confusing and I have no idea where to find 4.3 for an 8300 to even try it. If anyone can give me any more insite, please do. I am trying to install OS 8300-v4.2.2.166_P2.4.0.73. And yes I have already tried the 2 most recent versions also and everything always comes up with error 543. :?

Pardon me for being rude, Thank you jsconyers for the info I greatly appreciate it.

I haven't a clue what all this means, but if someone else does please chime in.

Unfortunately the 4.3 OS listed is for an 8330 not an 8300, I have an ATT 8300. This is the reason for my confusion.

pegb856 04-23-2008 05:32 PM

Well I have a copy of the 4.5 Beta (and no don't ask for it) I guess I will try install it and see what happens.

I am beginning to think that someone got ahold of an OS for a different model of phone and somehow figured out how to get it to install on this thing and it's probably going to be a very pretty paperweight.

Wish me luck with 4.5.

pegb856 04-23-2008 06:54 PM

Well I am back to being in the endless boot loop and I appear to be having a one sided conversation here.

Does the PIN number that Desktop Manager shows match the PIN number on the label?

Yes I just checked it and it does match so the housing has not been changed. It is in fact an 8300.

jsconyers 04-24-2008 08:31 AM

Hmm. Sounds to me like you've done pretty much everything I would have tried. I'm all out of ideas. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Maybe someone else will read this and have a solution for you. Best of luck.

pegb856 04-24-2008 08:57 AM

Thank you and thanks for your input, I really do appreciate it.

pegb856 04-25-2008 11:25 AM

I have given up. :(

Caribe95 04-25-2008 12:10 PM

Do you follow the steps in the link in post #4.

** At your own risk ** :) (it worked for me)
Uninstall 4.5 (go back to 4.2.2) [tip by Sith Apprentice]
install your last working OS (if it isn't already)
delete vendor.xml in program files\common files\research in motion\AppLoader
in DM click on Aplication Loader -> next
do a print screen to have a backup of everything that's checked
unselect all (yes)
next...
It installed all again.
I lost all the games.. but its working back again

Many thanks to jsconyers

Sith_Apprentice 04-25-2008 12:10 PM

well it would be OS 4.2.2 not 4.3 since there is no 4.3 for the 8300

Caribe95 04-25-2008 02:52 PM

Hello,

What it could be the reason for this error? I was installing, you know... ermmm ehhh.. the .18 thingie... and then crashed...

I didn't uninstalled 4.3 & OS 194 (that save me later)

thanks
