No WiFi with de-commissioned Bold
I decommissioned my Bold 9000 from AT&T about a year ago because my business partner insisted on another platform. I still love the Bold and would like to use the WiFi feature even though there is no active voice/data plan. I was able to connect to the hotspot, but the browser does not render. Every url request returns:
"You are attempting to open a secure conection, but the server's certificate has expired." In Manage Connections, the Mobile Network is unchecked and the Wi-Fi is checked and the hotspot name shows in green. On the front panel, Wi-Fi is illuminate in black/white. Will I be able to use WiFi now with this unconneced device? Something I'm missing? Many thanks in advance. |
Re: No WiFi with de-commissioned Bold
AT&T requires that you have an active BB dataplan on your account before they will ship the WiFi service book.

Re: No WiFi with de-commissioned Bold
Thanks Dubdub, but not sure I follow. I don't know what a Wifi service book is.
My BB Bold was originally provisioned on ATT with all-you-can-eat voice and data and was used for all voice and email communications and web browsing for many months. Since switching platforms, of course, this device has been dormant. I just want to use it randomly for WiFi without another account activation. Is this possible? |
Re: No WiFi with de-commissioned Bold
Nope. No BB dataplan, no service books, no WiFi, no email, no BBM, etc.
Because you had a voice and dataplan with AT&T previously, everything worked. Now with no SIM, no voice and no BB data, to don't have much of anything. For more info on service books, read here: Blackberry service books |
