if the javellin is a cdma device, why does it have a 9300 name? shouldnt it be a 9330? uniformity?

the Javelin has not been confirmed to be a CDMA device at all. It's supposed to be a 3G-less version of the Bold, it'll be the equivalent to the Curve, which was out on GSM for a year before making it's way to CDMA.

Also, this forum is the 9300 series forum. Meaning all 9300 models. Same as all the curves are in the curve forum, 8800's in the 8800 forum.

Nextel User 06-24-2008 06:22 PM

i wasnt questioning the forum name. only the model number

Hello, I have a BB curve 9300 but its german so the keyboard layout is diferent (z switch with Y) and also the software, I was thinking on updating the device software to a newer version or a USA version and change the keyboard (hardware) so software and key are the same. Will taht work???
Thanks!!!
Best regs,
Hector.

raynicolini 03-19-2009 02:17 PM

hi all, I currently have the Bold 9000, and I am getting the Curve 8900 as a second phone, can I use the same 4.6 Desktop Manager, or must i use the 4.7 Desktop Manager

pacco_ro 03-22-2009 07:04 PM

Gojiman 04-10-2009 07:19 PM

Hello I am the new guy in town.

I just want to say hello. I am pretty darn new here in the Blackberry world. I currently now own my very first Blackberry ever and it is a Blackberry 8900 Curve (Javelin), and I have to say I absolutly love this thing. 8-)

popusito 04-30-2009 11:17 AM

I'm new to the BlackBerry world also and i got a curve 8900 ( javelin ) which is my first blackberry ever and so far i love this phone i think i made the right choice over the iphone!!!

richard82 05-03-2009 09:17 AM

I just got rid of my iphone 3g for the 8900 and don't regret it in the slightest :)

peterj 05-10-2009 04:59 AM

I now have the Curve 8900 through O2, having upgraded from a Pearl 8120. I like the separate keys for each letter, but it took me a while to work out how to move applications from their folders to the 'Menu' screen. I use the Memo Pad and Calculator quite a lot, so it's easier to access them from the Blackberry button, rather than digging down through menus. Installation of Facebook and Twitter was a doddle, and I've aslo managed to install Mobipocket - kewl!

I upgraded Desktop Manager to 4.7.0.32 with the disc that came with the phone. It syncs ok, but then it searches for updates and I get an error message about the Application Loader, and it asks me to submit an error report.

The Curve hasn't locked up yet like the Pearl used to do - which required a battery pull. All things considered, it's a very nice piece of kit. Next puchase - Bluetooth headphones.

8900 Missing "General Options"

The 8900 is a cool piece of equipment. I, however, have a problem accessing certain of the setup data. Th emanual and even the built-in help function indicates a tree "Options>General Options" to a host of setting but there is no "General Options". I want the phone to forwared my number when I phone or SMS but cannot get to it. Any help out there?

hgils 06-02-2009 04:15 PM

upgraded today

I just got the 8900 today at 10:30 AM8-)
I am impressed I was on a 8310 and it served me well! But this thing is great. Like anything it's a little different but not to much. Yes some of the apps I will need to move but what a joy to have ! Screen quality is nothing short of Awesome !

Yes, but this is not the proper place to ask this question.

J-Tuning 06-05-2009 03:50 AM

Hi there guys,

I went to a friend last weekend and he has a Javelin. Oh i liked the device alot. Smaller then my bold felt right in my hand.

Do you guys thing that BB will ever release a 3G Javelin? the reason i ask this is because the EDGE connection from my provider is not that great.

Back up and Restore BB curve 8900

I was wondering. My backup files are getting larger in my document folder. Is it harmful to delect some of those file to save memory on the desktop?

JSanders 12-02-2009 10:19 AM

twyana, delete all that you want, just keep the most recent.

It's up to you what you have remaining.

create a new thread....

and it looks like you dont have a data plan and are trying to use the internet browser. go to settings and set it to hotspot browser and wifi browsing should work.

best of luck.

Re: Welcome to the 8900 series forum!

Hi BB8900 Users/Abusers/Owners/Researchers(I guess I addressed everyone here!),
This is Sidharth from India(Bangalore). I am in love with this gadget, which I purchased the SIM-free version after going through many reviews. Currently I use a OEM sillicon black case with it, which makes the device a li'l chubby and sturdy to hold(without it the device is quite sleek, which slips off my hand:p). Got my BB couple of months back and enjoying ever since. Few things me and 'The Javeline' are upto at the moment:

- Logging into a Unix/Linux box from BB
- Updating OS to 5.0.0.90
- Learning to Develop apps for BB
- Getting a Bluetooth headset(Jawbone/SE MW600/Moto S9-HD)

Will keep you guys posted on these':)
Cheeers!!!!!!!!!!!!!
