How do I disable gmail calendar/contact sync?
 

hello! I just upgraded my Z10 OS to 10.1.0.4181 (the latest offered in my region).

This upgrade made my re-enter passwords to all my accounts.
However, now, Gmail is different. It doesnt seem to give me an option to NOT sync contacts and calendar. How do I get over this?

I have my contacts and calendars synced to Hotmail. I have kept it this way and my Hotmail info if nice and clean, with over 3000 contacts. My Gmail info is hap hazard, unlclean, incomplete and different. I dont want to mix the two. However, when entering account details for Gmail, there is NO option to disable contact and calendar sync. How do I get around this?

When I updated my Q10 (Verizon) to 10.1.0.4189 this behavior stopped. I was constantly having to reenter the password for contacts sync for my iCloud account. Now, however, it works perfectly. This leads me to believe it's an OS issue.

When you set up your GMail account the boxes to sync contacts along with mail is checked by default. If you did not uncheck it at that time you might have to delete your account and re-add it. If your GMail account splits off the account for contacts from email you can just delete the contacts account and leave email in place, unaffected.

There are no check boxes for Gmail. I deleted and created a new account. Twice. :(

Yes there are. I only sync mail, I make sure contacts and calender are unchecked. Setting up GMail is a bit different.

After adding the account to your device, you will be asked to sign in on Google's Password Page. After signing in, it will state that you can;
View and manage your mail
Manage your calenders
View and manage your contacts using the CardDAV protocol. Accept and save.

You will be shown a screen like this

Nope. You dont get these options. But i fond a workaround. I aded a new imap account (instead of selecting the default gmail option) and manually added gmail details this works.

Strangely it doesnt offer me the advanced options other mailboxes offer. Prhaps its slentky and secretly portinng my contacts and calendars to google :(
