AT&T 9700 with Rogers SIM no 3G
I have a friend with a AT&T branded 9700. Device is unlocked and she is using it on Rogers. She cannot use the device in 3G to make calls. It will only make and receive calls in 2G mode.
What can be done to use device on Rogers 3G? Thanks |
Re: AT&T 9700 with Rogers SIM no 3G
what does the phone display? your saying it only shows GSM or EDGE?
Have you set the options to 3G and 2G mode? It may be set to 2G |
Re: AT&T 9700 with Rogers SIM no 3G
The phone is set at 2G now cause it does not recieve or send calls while its set at 3G. It is set on 2G and it shows EDGE and recieves and sends call no problem in this setting.
When the 3G is shown on device it again does not send or receive calls. |
Re: AT&T 9700 with Rogers SIM no 3G
Unless it's defective I would call the carrier to make sure there are no service issues.
the 9700 should work with Rogers. |
Re: AT&T 9700 with Rogers SIM no 3G
Correct - it's only the T-Mobile/Videotron units that won't work in 3G on other networks outside of the above mentioned 2 networks. An ATT device should work fine in 3G on Rogers. It should actually show the "3G" network. Perhaps a firmware update would address that issue.

I'm a little delayed on this but Delete the Vendor.XML file from the apploader file director. then you can load any 9700 HH code software on the device, I was running the most upto date rogers HH code on my AT&T/ Bell device, and when i was in a 3g area i was able to use it, also you can try the leaked version of 6.0.0.344 for the 9700 as well it works well on 3g with it.

Re: AT&T 9700 with Rogers SIM no 3G
also forgot to add does the SIM card start off like 8930272030 and so forth or does it go 8930272040 and so forth if it is an OLD Sim card in the device being a SIM starting with 8930272030 it could cause this as well, hope this helps
