RIM will always rule the enterprise IMHO. The only other company that even sells itself to the enterprise is MS and, well, that's not really much of a contest.

The iPhone, WebOS and Android are all aimed squarely at the consumer and the only Droid or Pre or iPhone devices that you will see in the enterprise are in companies that allow their employees to bring their own devices. It's happening, but RIM is more than secure.

With the popularity of these "consumer" devices, a lot of high-end users want these. I am dealing with that now. Luckily I am on GroupWise and there's not much that works well with GroupWise. I do have multiple servers setup to fit these needs. I have a Notify Link server that supports BlackBerry, WebOS, Android and iPhone. I have a GroupWise Mobile Server that supports Older Palm OSes, and Windows Mobile. I have Novell DataSync which supports basically any smartphone with the exception of BlackBerry. And of course I have the BES. None of these servers comes close to BES. Administering BES is cake compared to the rest of these servers.

With Exchange, I believe this would be a lot easier with Activesync. It isn't very cost effective having all of these servers to have keep the high-end users happy. But with the ever changing smartphone market, you have to try to keep up with it. GroupWise doesn't make this easy.

As for the article, it is nice to see a positive article for a change.
