8230 CDMA pearl flip: DELETE shutter sound file?

I know there are many places online to find out that there is no way to disable the shutter sound on the CDMA pearl flip so please don't tell me that (and don't tell me that there's a program that only works for the GSM version; I know all this). What I'd like to know is, can anyone tell me how to get file-level access to the device? I used to have an LG Chocolate and was able to do this with Bitpim.

From what I've read, no one seems to have been able (or willing) to go deep within the device and to replace the shutter sound file with a silent one; same size, length, file name, etc, but silent.

My newborn hates when I wake her up with my phone's shutter sound but my family loves to see pictures of her sleeping. Please, this is driving me crazy!

This isn't what you want to hear, but AFAIK it cannot be done. You can't hack a BB, or at least no one has successfully done it to date. A BB isn't like an ordinary cell phone or PDA. RIM prides themselves on security.

You have answered your own question. I suggest you buy a camera that has no shutter sound or get a phone that you can hack.

Well since the shutter sound doesn't play until after the picture has been taken, I'm pretty sure that your picture would turn out fine.

thanks, but the point is to let my kid sleep.

It's amazing to me that with all the rooting and hacking of iphones and pads and palms and nexus handsets out there, no one has figured out how to get into the bb file system.

Why do you think businesses and government agencies use them? They are pretty darn secure.
