Exceptions for current profile only

I have 4 profiles, normal, important, work, and important work.

I want to make an exception that uses the important profile when the normal profile is active and another exception that uses the important work profile when the work profile is active.

The only way I can find to setup exceptions is all or none. Is there a way to do what I am wanting 3rd party software or not?

When you are creating the exception, you can assign which profile the exception is for. It can be for a specific one, or the active one at the moment.

But I'm a bit confused as to why you would use a profile within a profile? Why not just create exceptions for the profile being used at the moment?

Looks like I am just miss understanding the exception fields, specifically the Use profile field. I was under the impression that when I create an exception I selected the names to use the exception and the profile that the exception would use, not what profile to apply the exception for. This makes things a bit easier. I do how ever still need to create a profile for each "important" person then I take it?

EDIT: thanks for the quick reply btw!

I think I understand your original posting a bit more now. But you can use the profiles and exceptions in a couple of different ways.

For example, I have a specific ringtone for family and another for friends. Within my normal profile, I have a family and friends exception. These exceptions help to specify which ringtones are assigned to which people. In this case there's no need to create separate family and friends profiles.

So depending on what your needs are, you can set up exceptions within a profile, or use a profile within a profile.

That makes sense. I'm going to pay around with them a bit more later on. Thanks for the incite.
