huge problem, need help ASAP

so heres the deal:
i cant see any files on my mediacard, no photos, docs, music. when i connect phone to PC it says that there are files on the card but when i enter the folder its empty (i tried show hidden files), but when i check memory status it says that theres only 300mb free of 2000mb. so files are still there but i cant see them. what makes the thing worse i got very important files there and cant access them. please someone help me.:?:?

Are you actually looking at the card on the blackberry via explore, or via the media player? If you are looking via the media app, try looking directly. If you can see them, then try deleting all the .dat files using the computer, then try again.

Misho 05-08-2010 12:24 PM

i tried explore too, and deleted .dat files. im freakin out slowly

Ok. You say that you see and can open all the files when you view the card from the computer? If so, copy everything from the card to the computer. Format the card. Copy select files back to the cards a few at a time, and test.

Misho 05-08-2010 12:59 PM

no i cant view the files on PC

You have selected to view hidden files as well?

Only thing I can suggest is run a disk/file recovery utility, see what you can salvage. See what others say.

Misho 05-08-2010 01:05 PM

yeah i tried hidden files, i wrote that in a first post.

any suggestions?

Help needed urgently -Had a power (electricity) failure at re-installation

I need your help in fixing this BIG problem. I had an app reset which required me to re-install my 8900 Os. In the process of installation. Having gotten to the level where it says Do not disconnect your device..

Loading JVM and the system application window

waiting for device initialization

.....

A colleague of mine trying to resolve some issues with his printer mistakenly Pull my power cable off

I tried starting all over again but the system would not recognize the phone and could not even come up with the com port number>

the phone blinks intermittently too.

How do I resolve this issue.

Thank you

You resolve this by looking in the FAQ's up above and if you need more help making your own thread instead of rudely hijacking someone elses thread when your question isnt even remotely similar to the original posters.

Look in camera options. What do you have set for the file location?

And what about that media card. Is it FUBAR or were you able to salvage it?

Misho 05-09-2010 06:22 AM

Store pictures: On Media card

how do i salvage my media card? oh and btw- i tried to scan it with anti virus, and when scanning it showed my files but i cant find them.

If you are using a windows machine, insert the card in a card reader, open 'my computer', right click on the card, select properties, select the tools tab, then select 'check now.' I don't know if windows has the capability to repair 'disk' errors on a sd card, but maybe. [EDIT: Looks like windows has at least some capability to fix file system errors and recover bad sectors. At least you can select those options when you select check for errors. I don't have an opinion on how effective it is. No doubt there are stronger tools in the marketplace.] Try and see. At the very least write down what it reports. Then, if you don't have any other file utilities, at least you can good and try to find a utility to fix the errors or at least possibly recover some files.

Or, if you give up on recovering any files, try re-formatting the card. Maybe it is usable after that.

If it is important to recover the files, I would do what I could find a reasonably priced (or free) untility and give it a try.

If the card reformats again and doesn't show bad sectors in the process, I would continue using it. If it throws error when re-formatting, I'd throw it away and buy another.

Regardless, start backing up your card by periodically copying all the contents to a folder on the computer, if you have stuff you don't want to lose.

im using windows but i dont have card reader right now. is there some program that can browse through my media card when i connect blackberry to PC? because using windows explorer i only see the blackberry folder which is empty but shows that memory is used.

and i have really huge bid deal of files on my media card and formatting it isnt an option.

aiharkness 05-09-2010 06:51 AM

You can try it with the card in the blackberry and with mass storage mode enabled on the blackberry. I think it should work, but not 100% sure. I don't believe it will do any harm; at worst you will get an error messaging to the effect it isn't possible.

Try what I said. http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ml#post1604721. In 'my computer' right-click on the 'drive' for the memory card. Don't left-click.

As I said, try it with the card in the blackberry with mass storage mode enabled. You should see the media card using My Computer on the PC. Right-click on the drive for the media card, etc as I suggested above.
