lost and found BB's

I have a user who lost his BB. We ordered him another one and I called t-mobile and had his number transfered to the new SIM. A couple weeks later, he shows up with the "lost" BB and wants it provisioned for one of his people. So then there is some back and forth with our vendor and my purchasing agent, but the bottom line was that we had to buy a new SIM for the "lost" (now found) BB. She said that "It is essentially fried once a number is canceled off of it".

This is my first experience with a lost and found device, is it true that the SIM cannot be reused? I find that strange.

I have to check with the group that does the provisioning here but I don't think they are going through sims like that. Basically it's just re-programmed with a new #, plan etc.

I tried using a used sim once. TMo told me it would take up to 24 hours to provision it. They said if I had a new one it could be activated immdiately. Since I had a new one on hand I just used that. I'n not sure if it's a sim that has been disabled or marked as stolen or lost.

Since you're starting a new line/BB service for "one of his people", you could have ordered a Mot V3 or other cellphone for $50 or even Free after MIR and switch the SIM that comes with it to the lost-and-found BB and then add the BB data plan. . . . bottom line, you get the SIM for Free plus a new V3 or some other phone of your choice. . . .;-)

Our rep was kind enough to send us the new SIM for free. Because we go through CDWG for our account, I don't think I could have called tmo to provision the old SIM. I just put it in my drawer of random items. Thanks for the input!

A new SIM and a new phone for Free would have been much nicer, don't you think so?

nope. I have no use for it and being government, it would have just sat on a shelf somewhere since we can't receive "gifts"
