8900 charging stand weirdness
 

I purchased the charging stand from RIM for my 8900, the problem is when I place it in the stand and it does charge it messes up the sound profile. My message sounds and even the ringer doesn't work, they are silent. It is weird, vibrate always works. Anyone else have a similar issue?

If you have bedside mode with your OS, check the settings for bedside mode in clock options. You may have it set to change the profile.

I just checked it, its set to active profile. It should not change anything right?

Shouldn't. I'm not sure what's going on.

Can you test and figure out if the device is actually changing profile or not. In other words, when on the cradle, do the various alerts (email, phone, calendar, BBM ...) match a profile?

so I did a little testing and it is not actually changing the profile, it seems that even when its on my normal ringers, etc, it will go silent. The only profile that seems consistent is vibrate, that always works. Weird..... If i reboot the device all is well again. I am not liking that I have to do that, makes me feel like i Have a windows phone :)

I don't know what is going on. I can't think of a scenario that explains what you are seeing, other than what I've asked about already.

The fact that a hard reset corrects the problem for a while is a clue, but I can't make sense of it.

no worries, I appreciate the effort, I will live with it. I do want to upgrade but AT&T has nothing right now, I will wait for something with OS6 that grabs me.
