Hopefully it is thinner than the Bold. Hard to tell.

From those photos I'd say the code name for this could be the "BrickBerry". Kinda reminds me of my old Nokia N95.

Preference changes I would like to see.
I noticed three things that I hope change from the pictures here and the final production unit.
1. The screen glass covering has been pushed up but the screen it self looks like the curve 8900 underneath with a large boarder even at the sides (yuck). Why on earth can't RIM make more use of the space available to put pixels? 2. The keyboard looks to be that of the Bold styling. I was really hoping that it would be more of the curve (either one) style, just enlarged to fit the unit. This is obviously a personal preference, but most Blackberry folks I know agree that the curve is just easier to type on. Anyone else like to see the larger shift key back as well? 3. The fake chrome boarder around the outside may look nice at first, but as I see my friends and family's Bolds chrome boarders get horribly scratched and dinged up easily, this is a huge turn off. I do like the look of the battery cover and I also like the covered buttons, oh and the trackpad. I don't think this is a brick as Rambo47 suggests it looks like. I believe it is just an optical illusion produced by the reflection from the mirror below it, making the unit look thicker, at least lets hope so. Any other takes on what these pictures have to give? |
Despite the poor angle, you can easily estimate the thickness of the device since you can see the usb connector and and headphone socket in one of the pictures, it looks like it will be basically the same thickness as an 8900 give or take a mm or so.

Skeevecr - the chrome on my 8900 started peeling shortly after I got it. It is always used in the holster designed for the 8900. I replaced it with the black out kit as it was looking so poorly.

Anyone notice that the back upper piece (next to the camera) reads Bold?

My big question is, does anyone know what type of processor is going to be used in this? I love my Pearl 8120. My wife has an 8900, which is a bit more responsive than my phone. Would love to see this 9700 increase the processor speed over the 8900.
Also, rumor has it that this is 3g. Anyone know how that will affect battery life vs., say an 8900? I know this is all speculation but wouldn't hurt to get someone's honest opinion on this. Thanks. |
Its nice to see T-Mo getting a new BB.

I'm new here so please be kind!
Do we know how this compairs to the current bold as far as specs? Does anyone have a remote idea when this will be avaiable? |

I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. This phone looks amazing (have been posting over on CB about it) but I'm not eligible, and for some reason, the more I see of this phone, the more I still like the looks and feel of the bold better. I don't know, maybe I got spoiled by the huge keypad.
I'm currently using an iphone and am debating picking up another BB. I can pick up a mint bold for under 300, the Onyx would run me over 600 most likely when it drops to buy it outright. You guys think it's worth the extra cash (realistically)? Maybe I'm weird, I just LOVE the bold's keyboard, only downfall is the crap camera, but I have a 3G S and I can always use that when I need a good camera. |
Looks nice

Why does Tmobile still release blackberries that are NOT 3g :( Is this going to be confirmed on tmobile and is it going to be confirmed 3g?
