Pearl not being recognized by desktop manager software

Hello everyone,

I have a Blackberry Pearl that I got initially setup with desktop manager. Had a little problem importing contacts but thanks to this site I got that all fixed. I plugged up my phone via the USB connection and it did not recognize the phone. Then I tried using the synchonization feature within the software and still got nothing.

The info: About a week ago, I turned off my e-mail functionality on my Blackberry. Just really didn't need to be updated that much anymore with all my e-mail. I had a message at the top of my phone stating "data connection refused" when I tried to sync up my phone with the software. Could this be the problem

Update: Once again, thanks to the site I was able to get the "Data connection refused" message removed from the top of my phone. I still need to know if this data connection refusal allowed me not to sync with my software suite. Will not be able to test until I get back home later today. Thanks for any info!

No 'data connection refused' has nothing to do with syncing to desktop manager'

It sounds to me like your PC is not recognizing the BB when it is plugged into the PC via USB.

Check by going to Start then my Computer and right mouse click on it, then select Properties then select Hardware and then >> Device Manager

Is the BB listed under devices???

Lunk,

Thanks for the advice. I will check that out when I get home tonight. Any advice in the event it is listed? Not listed?
