BB Curve 9300

Found on Engadget this evening:

It death of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 on T-Mobile (you can still get it on AT&T, by the way) bummed us out for the simple reason that it was perhaps the best-looking BlackBerry every made. The Curve 8500 series that followed it just didn't have the same sort of sleek, high-end air about it, so we're happy to see that the 8500's follow-on should go a little ways toward closing the gap. What we're apparently looking at here is the Curve 9300, a phone that carries over the now-standard optical pad from the 8500 but uses a decidedly 8900-esque chrome surround while adding 3G and support for 802.11n, a feature it shares with the Pearl 3G. What keeps the 9300 on the low end of the spectrum, though, is its screen -- it's apparently just QVGA, and we're a little discouraged that the leaked unit here isn't running BlackBerry 6 -- but you get what you pay for, right?

BlackBerry Curve 9300 fixing to replace the 8500 series? -- Engadget

8900 user here.... That picture of the 9300 from the link, the chrome bezel is pretty hideous... I think what's even worse is that it now runs around the entire perimeter of the phone.... Why haven't they figured out that all black is the way to go? I remember when TV manufacturers experimented with the silver/gray bezels and they very quickly realized what a mistake it was and the following year, all the bezels were black again.....

why haven't you figured out yet that it's just preference? if you don't like it, don't get it.

Maybe their should poll their Customers and find out what the bulk of their Consumer base "prefers"... I've yet to speak with anyone who prefers an ugly/cheap chrome bezel...

The 9300 also involves a camera downgrade from 3.2 MP (in the 8900) to 2 MP.

I don't think phone cameras really need to have more than 3.2 MP, but in my opinion they shouldn't have less.

Not to mention the 9300's camera is fixed focus and has no flash. I'm not quite understanding what they're doing here going backwards like this.

I agree. But then again, I'm not sure RIM knows where it's going anymore.

After years of loyal BB use I finally gave up 12 months ago, went out and began enjoying iPhones and Android phones.

I miss the way BB handles email and messaging so I want a 9300 ugly or not. At least it has a far better keyboard than my 9700 which is on it's way out.

I'll use all three and forget about the BB style, just enjoy it for email.
