10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
I did not understand the video fully. Is this an Android app being side loaded? I have some and most work but a few did not run all the time.
I thought I heard the OP say you need the BAR file to load the App but I could be wrong. Either way it looks very interesting. |
Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
This seems to me like a solution in search of a problem. Looks like an over-complication of what should be a simple security protocol. It's novel, but ultimately involves way too many steps to be practical.

No, it's part of the OS. Similar to what Windows 8 does. You can start anywhere and draw lines or circles. Supposed to be immune to brute force, but that is debatable. It's coming in 10.2.1 - There is actually a lot of stuff coming. Not sure what will trickle down to the Z10, but some stuff is planned for the Z30

so just move screen around until it unlocks?
I don't see how it is secure |
Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
10 attempts at a 4-digit code before a security wipe seems pretty secure and immune to a brute force attack considering there are well over 5,000 possible combos.

Seems overly (and perhaps unnecessarily) complicated to me...

Works perfectly for me.

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
I know I'm bumping an old thread, but picture password is working pretty well for me. I like that I can unlock my phone in any setting and know that the chances of someone getting my postcode are slim. Theft issues aside, I feel much better than I used to about leaving my phone on the charger for a few minutes at my desk while I talk with a colleague.

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
I was playing around with it, but I decided to stick with a 10 digit password.

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
Blackberry seems to be following the trend crowd. The only problem with that is they have to be very very sure of the next gimmic and dont loose the people and companys who use the phone for the features they are known for like security.

Not for me but i can see the 'fun' appeal. |
Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
Pick a number and a location on your screen. Move the number to the point for your screen to unlock. It can't be brute forced, and unless a person has the location and number cannot be cracked.

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
Someone who was determiend enough could do it? Why do you think it can't be cracked ZombieBerry??

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
No, someone who was determined could not do it.
There is no password for them to crack. So I don't think it would be safer to use a traditional password (which you use anyways, as a backup). Your finger doesn't have to be anywhere near the number or the location to unlock the device. You can be as determined as you want, but unless you know the location of the unlock point and which number the person is using, then the person is SOL. How would you go about unlocking the phone from the screen below? http://i.imgur.com/no1BaDe.png |
Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
Ok, I think you've convined me that it is fairly secure, what with there being so many different version of what number and what location. Are you utilising this function?

Re: 10.2.1. to have photo unlock screen
Unless they changed a basic requirement, 10 tries and the device wipes i hope.
