9800 Splash screens

I have just bought a used 9800 on Vodafone, unlocked it, all working fine.
Downloaded the latest Orange OS from Blackberry, followed the instructions and installed, but it still boots the Vodafone splash screens, is this right?
Or have I done something wrong?
I have deleted the "Vendor" file, any advice would be great, thanks in advance:smile:

You can't change the boot screen. It is burned into the ROM and is not affected by the device OS.

The "vendor file" (assuming you mean the vendor.xml file exists only on the computer and is not transferred to the BlackBerry during the OS update.

Shame I really hate Vodafone, how do I know if the OS for Orange has been installed fully?
Cheers for your quick response

The OS doesn't really matter since they all come from RIM. You can install any OS you wish. Are you looking for anything in particular?

Re: 9800 Splash screens

  1. You know the OS is installed "fully" because your phone is working.
  2. There is no such thing as "OS for Orange" any more than there is "OS for AT&T" or "OR for Rogers". All of the OS packages released/endorsed/branded by carriers are the same (assuming the same version number). If you load OS 6.0.0.244 that you got from AT&T, it will be exactly the same as OS 6.0.0.244 that you could get from Rogers.

And if it bothers you to see that splash screen, the simple fix is to close your eyes for 10 seconds and poof! problem solved. ;)

I use that technique often... I haven't quite figured out how to use it while driving, though. Never seems to work out like I hope.
