Verizon Question (Storm, Curve, or wait?)

My renewal for my Verizon contract is coming up (I have to stay with Verizon for work, so switching to another provider is not an option). I am wanting to get a blackberry, but am unsure which one to get that Verizon offers (Curve 8330 or Storm). Is the Bold coming to Verizon soon in 2009? I have never owned a blackberry and have heard lots of problems about the storm, but have also heard the curve is getting dated. Any help would be great!

Not sure if the Bold is coming to Blackberry or not...I would guess no with the advent of the Storm. The Blackberry model you get (by the way, I am a converted Treo user and wish I had gone with Blackberry years ago) depends on how you use you phone. I have the Curve...and love it. But, if you travel overseas and need a phone you can use overseas you may want a Storm. I use my Curve for personal and business use. It is great. Make sure you download and install Doc To Go with either model...great app for business use. Go to the Blackberry web site and do a compare...you'll love Blackberry.

I'm not going overseas much and would just use skype. This would be for personal and business use.

storm is very sleek and user friendly, but in my eyes a bit hard to get used to.
Curve is more bare bones in my eyes.

and i feel lucky, i have AT&T so my next BB will be the Bold, can't wait.

Right now, there are no plans for the Bold to Verizon. I've had my Storm since the device launched. I had to have my first BB replaced because the one corner of screen was not clicking but Verizon had a brand new sent to me and I had it within 48 hours. I am running the .85 beta OS on it and I have had no real big issues. I do a battery pull about once or twice a month. I just the YouTube, FaceBook, Weatherbug, ScreenLock (that locks the screen while on a call) and the AP News Apps. I think if you are limited by work, I would go into the store and get both devices in your hands. The Storm looks "cooler" but a lot of people can't get use to the touch keyboard and go for the Curve. While others, like myself, have found it to be easy to get use to and really enjoy the device. Putting the Storm on a BES is really easy too. Hope this helps.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Since I already have a BB, I am waiting.
They say if you are a power user, you are better off with the curve. It would be helpful if a Storm user responded to my comment to refute or confirm.

Go to a store and try the storm. If you think you can get used to the click typing, get it. Gobs of memory, cool factor, great display. If not, get the curve. The curve is still an awesome bb. Don't wait for the bold, it will be quite some time (6+ months) before vzw gets the bold equivalent.

Since Sprint is getting the Bold (Niagra), we should see some signs of it on VZW by the summer.. I'm not up for an Upgrade for quite a few months (But I will probably wait for the 9030/8930), and RIM plans on release a CDMA version of the Pearl Flip, Niagra, and the New Curve this year. Who knows how they will distribute them among the CDMA carriers, however.

Mess around with the Storm see how you like it.
