wow!

Some nice cool features there... it's getting better.

To follow up on on yesterdayxxx8217;s post of the BlackBerry KickStart photos, wexxx8217;ve got here a couple more images of the phone with T-Mobile branding and some interesting details on the physical design attributes. It looks like the screen is monochromatic with a color glow. Whatever that means. Wexxx8217;re imagining the border around the screen to possibly "glow" different colors and when the outer display is off, itxxx8217;s invisible. You just see the shiny black face. Therexxx8217;s a whole bunch of colors set to launch with the KickStart and theyxxx8217;ll be anodized. Additionally, the back battery cover will either be a soft-touch rubberized finish, or a low gloss finish. Wexxx8217;d imagine some sort of customization opportunities for the end user with the low gloss finish. Perhaps you could get the battery cover with personalized images and things. Sounds fun. Ready for the hard specaroonies? Who are we kidding xxx8212; you know you are!

* Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE
* "Next Gen" SureType keyboard
* 2 Megapixel camera
* 16-bit color LCDs
* Internal LCD is 320×240, external one is 160×128
* Wi-Fi b,g
* 3.5mm headset jack
* OS is 4.6

Wexxx8217;re not going to flat out call it, but look for a release around September on T-Mobile!

Will be a nice secondary phone

wunderbar 05-02-2008 11:39 AM

Wow, so this thing is actually real. I wonder if RIM will unveil it at WES in a couple weeks.

Looks interesting. I can't wait to actually see the thing in action.

RoadRider 05-02-2008 12:06 PM

Didn't see any mention of 3G.

Sith_Apprentice 05-02-2008 12:07 PM

Tmo doesnt have a 3G data network

BamaFan2989 05-02-2008 12:46 PM

yeah they don't even have the 3g data network yet... so that's an obvious plus that the kickstart doesnt have 3g, because i can't use the 3g anyway.

rDeuce 05-02-2008 01:23 PM

Wowie!!! i REALLY like it *but* i'm not a Tmobiler so guess I will be waiting a while!!

g_patrick15 05-02-2008 01:28 PM

t-mobile has 3G. rollout began on the 1st

Sith_Apprentice 05-02-2008 01:28 PM

Tmobile 3G isnt data

ndub33 05-02-2008 01:54 PM

It's beginning to pique my curiosity...

Yes it is both data and voice... got a bunch of people riled up on Hofo, 15 pages of comments in two days. lol

HowardForums: Your Mobile Phone Community & Resource - 3G!!!!!

Then again, no mention of 3G in this phone's spec, so likely won't matter.

If AT&T (eventually) gets this device I will certainly consider picking one up.

"screen is monochromatic with a color glow..." :shock: Is that like the old Green screens with black icons? Please tell me that's only the external screen! Although the external screen looks to be full color in the pics shown, unless they're just Photoshopped for the press kit. Something is a little fugazey with the whole "monochromatic" thing.

And yes, T-Mobile's 3G network is both voice and data. You can't have 3G voice only. It's all or nothing. It's only up in NYC right now but more is on the way and they'll have a bunch of major cities up by the time Kickstart comes out.:smile:

It is now: T-Mobile clears everything up: 3G rollout (with data) is on in NYC - Engadget

dwp1975 05-06-2008 07:41 PM

man, these new Blackberries are making me want to cry. Is the Curve the last good looking device RIM is going to make? (n)

John Clark 05-06-2008 09:07 PM

Yes, TMo is rolling out 3G data.
