Experience with Q10? pro`s contra`s, etc.

Hello!

I´m playing with the idea to buy a Q10. Right now I have a samsung s3, which I must recharge every day -.- ....

So I´ve some questions about the blackberry q10 (I never had one):
- Whats the battery run-time before I need to "chain it" into a power socket? ^^
- Are there any os related errors?
- How user friendly is the os?
- Is it still mandatory that a bb device must dial in to a bb server before connecting to the internet?
- Any other pro's or contra's?

My major use of a device is to telephone, writing sms, whatsapp and looking into my fb account (sometimes). Rarely I search some phone number over a app or need a navigation app. I dont play any app games or any other smartphone cr*p ;)

Hope you have some useful answers - thanks!

You will have to recharge your Q10 everyday as well.

-depends on use
-not many bugs, but rather some missing features from the latest, official OS
-Coming from an SGS3, there is a short learning curve.
-No it is not.
-Again, pros and cons would depend on why you think you need one and what you plan on doing with it.

Based on your major use requirements it would be a good selection for you, but better than your last model? Who knows.

hi zombie,

ok, I´m honest my major use is to survive more than 2 days without recharging it :-/ I know this is nothing more than a dream with current phones.

I just want to telephone, write emails and other messages and check a few times my fb account.

Maybe we have a store in town so I can check the device first, the SGS3 is like a "tinker"-device you need to root it, then you need to switch the os, etc etc etc...... i just want a phone for serious business use :/

Sounds like you would do fine with a Q. It does all those things well. Email isn't a problem, FB is integrated into the OS. You will get at least one day out of it. At least give it a go at your local store.

I get a full day plus with my Q10. And I expect Seidio (or some other reputable company) to come out with a high capacity battery at some point, just for those power users that never put their BlackBerry down.

BB10 (Z10, Q10, Q5) marked the end of the BIS data plan. Now you just need the standard carrier data plan and you get full internet.

I would argue that BB10 is even more user-friendly than previous versions of the BlackBerry OS. It's very different from the older versions, but if you've never used a BlackBerry before that won't bother you. The emphasis is on social networking and staying connected, perhaps at the expense of some business focus, but without eliminating that focus entirely. It's a whole new game.

q10 is all about use... how many emails ... how many accounts.. how often do you chat on the phone...
And most importantly what are the sync settings on your accounts ...are the 5-10 1hr 4hr ... Are you syncing all folders.

Most days I can't get by with a battery swap around 3pm-4pm other days I need 3 full battery charges.

I have several gmail accounts 2-3 that are on 5-20 minute sync with full folder syncing. The rest are 1-4hr.

But I do have around 11-12 email accounts probably.

I hit that old BIS limit way back in os 5-6 (which was 10 + the carrier email) bb10 doesn't have that limitation (tis just takes more batteries).

Also the bb10 way more RAM/APP space -- which is good.. That being said I don't run many apps together unless it's like skype or gsync (most everything else is pretty transactional ) I use the native apps heavily though.

Can it be taken OUT of the OS? I don't want to use up space with Twitter & FB, or anything else along those lines. I'd rather have the space for other things I want.:?

If you do not wish to use FB, Twitter, or any other account, you are not forced to. You can delete FB and never worry about it.

Hot dog! Thanks ZombieBerry! I now have a fresh off eBay Q10. It was used as a demo. It didn't come with a SD card or manuals, so I've just been playing with it. It seems to help having had a PlayBook. I figure in a couple days I'll activate it. But just using it over my wireless it seems to have a fast browser! I've looked in app world and it looks like there is more things in there than was available for my Torch! I just didn't want a phone that I couldn't get rid of apps I don't use or want. Bad enough I can't get rid of the emergency alerts, at least you can unsubscribe from most of them. But I like the keyboard! Not the smaller screen part, but being able to type, even with cold fingers is really nice going into winter. I think I'm really going to like this phone alot. Biggest draw back I'm seeing for me, is it won't sync with my computer using BarrySuite. At this time the dev isn't planning on getting it to. Anyone with connections to netdirect?? They fund the BarrySuite project. For Linux people, that just want their stuff on their computer & their phone, it rocks.
