8300 vs 8800 vs 8100
 

Since my return, I am trying to figure out what is the difference between the 8800 and 8300. I take it that it is the same thing right? T-mobile will get the 8300 first? Cingular / ATT&T already have the 8800 out?

How do you compare these two phones with the 8100 besides the full size keyboard.

I am most interested in 8300 so that's why I post it here.

you can't compare whats not out and no one knows for sure what carrier will have what first.

my vote is for the 8100! =) i guess i'm partial.

I have the 8800 and 8100.
Love the 8100, IM chat client, camera and i like suretype. I understand it so it is easy for me.
Love the 8800 - no camera, so I can take my phone to work...boss man does not like us taking picures at work, some people call it classified, whatever....

8300 for Cingular should be out this month. I hope anyway.

Yes, May 7th is the big day for T-Mobile for the 8300.

So the countdown begins. Most of you will measure it with a mere clock, but not me. I will measure it by the frequency of the tremors throughout my body that grow worse with each passing minute. It will be exactly 24 hours to release on the U.S. east coast when I curl into the fetal position in a dark room and begin rocking back and forth. I'll come out of it several times for dry runs to the T-Mobile store, timing my run to the parking lot, making allowances for morning traffic, etc. I'll calculate, re-calculate, and then re-calculate once again. Then I'll plan alternate routes. They also need to be timed, re-timed, etc. Plotting them all, taking weather conditions, traffic conditions, and wind speeds, will give me my optimal route and exact time of departure. Once more through the checklist:
1. Gas - check.
2. Tires - check.
3. Credit Card - check.
4. Duct Tape - check.
No. Wait. Scratch #4. I was.....er......um....thinking of something else.
And then the wait for 10:00 A.M. begins. That's right. 10:00 A.M.!!! The friggin' TMo stores in New Jersey don't open until 10:00. Maybe I should bring the duct tape after all.

Re you sure it is the 8300 and not the 8820?

May 7th is the rumored date, nothing is official until its official.

not to go off-topic but how is the voice plan for t-mobile anyway? per say that the 8300 does come out first for t-mobile and I do switch over from Verizon, how good is their call quality and range? I live in NYC so anyone from the NYC area can chime in as well with their experiences.

I have T-mobile and Cingular. I get better reception everywhere with T-mobile. I'm in the Atlanta area by the way.

Well.....just to let you know, the 8800 or the 8820 are unoffically releasing April 23rd.

And, yes the 8300 or 8320 are unofficially releasing May 7th.

To answer the question you asked initially, here's a breakdown based on what is known (ie: in field devices) and what is assumed (ie: rumour, hints, leaks, etc).

different form factor than 8800 - slightly shorter in "Y", narrow in "X" and thicker in "Z" the latter two are pretty marginal though given side-by-side pictures

Different products will be launched by different carriers - Cingy has the 8800, Tmo likely the 8820. Cingy likely the 8300 and Tmo the 8320. Sprint / Verizon the 8830. There will likely be variants of the 8300 for Sprint / Verizon as well, and maybe an 8100 variant a well, but so far no news of either.
