Location Based Services - 15 Minute Minimum Interval?

Greetings All,

I was able to turn on GPS tracking in my BES. But I cannot set the Interval for less than 15 minutes.

As we run a car service where the average trip is about 30 minutes, that would mean that we would know where the driver is roughly when they pickup, halfway through their trip and again roughly when they drop off.

For us that does not work well. We need an interval of about 5 minutes in order to get meaningful tracking data.

I spoke with BB tech support and all they could say was that the developers wrote it. Not much of an explanation.

I postulated that perhaps RIM did not want the overhead of more data going through their system and the tech assured me that this was not the case.

Can anyone suggest why the minimum interval for GPS tracking in BES cannot be set lower than 15 minutes?

Is there a workaround for this?

Thank you,

Paul

P.S., I would like to thank TargetIT for his excellent post on how to create the trigger to take the continuously updated data in the SyncLBS table and move it to a new table called SyncLBSLog. I would have thanked him in the original post, but the thread is closed.
