9800 Data Issues

Hi all I just picked up a 9800. Rodgers phone I un locked. I am on Fido. I have been playing around with both BB and an iphone. On pay as ya go with 500mb data for smart phones.

Ok got the phone working now here is the issue. not all apps working on data. Browser not working and stuff like facebook not working.

Others work like gas price finder and weather weather eye, but the weather channel dosen't work?

Changed APN to internet.fido.ca username: fido and password: fido

any ideas? thanks

strange thing is I had the same issues with my 9780 and when I updated the OS they went away.

This phone is 6.0 1907 (v6.0.0.448 )

You need to change your data plan to a BlackBerry Data Plan.

thanks for the reply. Not really interested in enterprise mail or BBM.

what I don't understand is why some apps work and some do not. Why they would work on my 9780 and not with the 9800 ?

Re: 9800 Data Issues

For any app that requires RIM services, you must have a BB data plan, i.e. Facebook, maps, the browser, Weather Channel, etc. BB data is not just for email and BBM.

On the 9780, you probably had service books from a previous BB dataplan. Updating the OS wipes everything and without a BB plan, they are not pushed back to the device once it registers on the network.

In other words, no BB dataplan, no BB services.

I also get java errors when loading the weather. not every time just now and then.

On the 9780 for example when I got it the browser would not work. Updated the phone then it worked. maps worked ect just not BBM or BB mail?

on this one (9800) they do not work and I can't even find the maps.
