Can't Play Attachments

Hello,

On a Sorm 2, using 5.0.0.1015, bundle 1656, Platform 4.2.0.442. I am on a hosted BES.

My Office VOIP service emails all voicemails to me as a .WAV attachment, and of course, I recieve the emails on my blackberry. In the past, I have never had a problem just opening/preview the attachment (but not downloading the atachment) and it would play in the native media player on my phone. Recently, when I attempt to preview the attachment, I get an error that "the media being played is of an unsupported format." and it will not play. However, if I download the attachment, it will play with out a problem. After some searching on the forums, I looked for BlackBerry Attachment Service on my phone, but it is not present.

Is the missing BlackBerry Attachment Service my problem, and if so, how can I get it back? If not, what else could it be?

Thank You

Re: Can't Play Attachments

Hello, I have never heard about this BAS but I found it interesting and did some research. If I'm wrong please correct me.

I read that the BAS is some junction of the device software and the BB server, not something that we can install or uninstall.

BlackBerry Attachment Service

If you haven't change (updated/downgraded) your OS, I think you should:
1. Check the size for the wav files. Maybe you did preview smaller files.
2. Consult with your server administration if they have changed the bit-rate of the files.

Please keep us informed on your resolution.

Re: Can't Play Attachments

Are you sure the file is a .wav? Also check the size as Pendro said. There is a limit on file size set by the IT policy.
The admin may have restricted the use of the file type. you should call your admin and check. sounds like they upgraded the server or missed an option or made changes..
