SMS costing a fortune in unlocked set
 

Hi,

I have brought an unlocked 9800 torch from US. I hooked it up to my India Airtel number yesterday. However, when I started sending sms, for every sms sent to a Vodafone number would cost me Re.1, but every sms sent to an Airtel number would cost me Rs. 5 (international sms). I have a sms pack in my prepaid airtel number and none of these should happen. The Airtel Customer Care told me that my phone is AT&T Locked. My idea was if it was locked, it would not absolutely allow calls on any other sim. Am I mistaken somewhere?

Is the proper country code set in the Smart Dialing options?
