OS: 9780 6.0.0.1306/6.0.0.359 (Multilanguage)

Software For BlackBerry® Bold™ 9780 smartphone BlackBerry Handheld Software v6.0.0.1306 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 6.0.0.1306
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 6.0.0.359
  • Software Platform: 6.5.0.93
  • File name: 9780M_PBr6.0.0_rel1306_PL6.5.0.93_A6.0.0.359_AVEA. exe
  • File size: 169.31MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...F22A6C2A830A17

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 9780:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Has anyone loaded this on a TMo 9780? I'm going to tomorrow but wondered if anyone has tried it yet.

My 9780 supposedly arrives today. I'm going to download this after I get it.

I've been using this OS for a few weeks since beta. Runs well, no real issues, I'm happy with it.

^^ The above quote is from the Beta You Than Me forum in regards to the beta version of the OS.

I have a t-mobile 9780 and after installing this OS I have no theme and the device is really hard to navigate and use. I am hoping that doing what Ubizmo suggests, will resolve the issue, otherwise I'm going back to my previously installed version.

UPDATE: I just completed the reinstall of 359 after deleting the modules above, and the issue I was experincing is now resolved.

Also just to clarify, you'll find those in the folder C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9780M_v6.0.0.359_P6.5.0.93\Java\

If you're on TMobile US you need only remove the TMobile theme cod. You dont need to remove the TMobileeu cod as that doesn't even load to a TMo uS device.

This .cod file only adds a TMobile label to the theme in the options. It will read "BlackBerry 6 for TMobile" instead of "BlackBerry 6".

You can replace it with the tmobile theme cod from 6.0.0.285 for the 9780 or you can replace it with the same file from the 9700 OS v6.0.0.380 as it seems to be fixed in that OS.

The issue of the disappearing cursor in the Manage Connections options still exists in this version. It occurs when you have a font bigger than 8 and you access Manage Connections from the home screen top ribbon bar.

I'm getting 606 App Errors every time I attempt to load this version. I'm rolling back to version that came with the device.

Did you try booting in safe mode? Most likely the error is caused by a 3trd party app.

Been running this version for a few weeks on my TMO 9780 and had no problems after deleting the .cod file mentioned in above post. Still running OS 6 on my ATT 9700 and I am slowly making the 9780 my primary device.

I loaded this version a few hours ago on my TMO 9780 (deleted the cod files too prior to loading). All seems fine. had to reload some apps and rearrange icons and those sorts of things but no problems so far. Haven't noticed any thing improved either...seems just like the previous version. Perhaps i'm just not keen like the admins on this site for me to notice.

I founded the incompatible app and removed it, wiped my device using JLCommander and reloaded the OS. Everything working fine now. (y)

Not sure what you mean about a "disappearing cursor". I'm using 9pt fonts...but in the manage connections, accessed from the top ribbon - I don't see any issue. I don't see where there could be a cursor in that page, but the cursor works everywhere it's supposed to in any case, even after accessing the manage connections page from the top ribbon. I'm using .359.

Change your font size to 10 and watch what happens.

Just did - same thing. Nothing wrong and no odd behavior...works perfectly for me. I don't even know what it is I should be expecting?

Tried it on 12...I see what the problem is...locks up from time to time on the manage connections page.

As soon as you roll the cursor down below the bottom of the screen it disappears and won't come back until you escape out and go back in.
