Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.1646 / 7.1.0.523 (All Languages)

Software For BlackBerry® Bold 9900 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v7.1.0.1646 (All Languages)

Package Version: 7.1.0.1646
Consisting of:
Applications: 7.1.0.523
Software Platform: 5.1.0.393
File name: 9900jAllLang_PBr7.1.0_rel1646_PL5.1.0.393_A7.1.0.5 23_AIS_Thailand.exe
File size: 285 MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here: BlackBerry - Software Downloads 2

Instructions for installing on the 9900:
1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml." Vista/Win7 users: In the apploader folder, simply click on "Compatibility files" to see the actual Vendor.xml file. Once you've got that - simply delete the vendor.xml file there (even if you've deleted or think you've deleted it in the folder previously) and voila, it will allow you to update to the newly installed OS!
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process may take up to 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a black "BlackBerry" screen with a status bar for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again, and it should load the OS to the device.

Re: Latest OS 9900 v7.1.0.1646 / 7.1.0.523 (All Languages)

have been following this forum since really long.

have been updating my BB with firmware updates since years now. never experienced a problem

downloaded this update. deleted vendor.xml (S)

now when all is done like always...

BlackBerry App World wont let me download any APPS

it gives me an error: no cached credentials (error id 40721)

so i cannot sign in using my BB App World username (email) and password to get into my world

even if i search for apps without signing in.. when i click on download.. it gives the same error

now i understand this error has nothing to do with this OS (i hope) because this error has been reported on the internet by other users before. but i couldnt find a solution

yes. have done the battery pull.. re-register, service books et al

please help :(

- x -

P.S: rest everything is working fine... get emails etc. i am not on BES. on BIS.

weird

Can you log in to App World from a PC, install the plugin (Download and install from the browser) Connect your device (usb) and head over to here BlackBerry App World - Free BlackBerry Apps - Official Store then sign in. It should ask you to link your account to your device.

that did not do it...

what i noticed was even though my PUSH E-Mail services, BBM everything was working my BIS Status - under Manage Connections - Service Status was showing = Not Connected.

Under Setup - E-Mail - it was showing the number of E-Mail inbox configured but couldn't login...

Called my Service Provider. They pushed Service books, Did a Hard Boot - and all is back to normal...

so not connected to BIS was the issue

i guess the problem occurs when we just install new firmware and then just in a hurry keep clicking on OK on the first license agreement page and then cancel the set up procedure..

anyway thank you zombieberry.. let's see now if this OS version does good to battery life

For some reason this OS killed the microphone on my phone. I was able to make one call and it worked, but then refused to work afterwards. Sometimes it works after a reboot but other times it didn't.

Sounds like the dreaded AT&T mic bug has reared it's ugly head again. You, unfortunately, will have to downgrade.

Actually, I ended up wiping the device with JL Cmdr, then reloaded the new OS (this one), and it's working for now. Few quick test calls to my other phone are good. Will test for the weekend and see what happens.

OK that totally didn't work. Died again. Just going to get a new device from AT&T instead.

Some may have noticed that the BlackBerry Device Analyzer has been 'hidden'

You can now enable it with by going into Options and Holding Alt + BBDA. You should see a notification that it has been enabled.

Make sure you delete ALL COPIES of Vendor.XML (one may be hidden) and then run LOADER again.

There is now a multi-language version from digicel group. I've been running .523 for a while. Started with the all languages then went to the multi-language version. Seems pretty stable and the scrolling also seems smoother. Some people over at CB have tried a hybrid using the radio from .523 and the java from .536.

Yes, so far so good. I'm on AT&T and no microphone issue yet.

I'm seeing minor issue with the red unread marks on various email messaging desktop icons, but nothing major. Opening the message icons for both BES and BIS email services doesn't turn off red unread mark unless I open an unread message in the message list.
