Can a Hand-Me-Down Pearl be used JUST as a phone?
 

I'm on T-Mobile... I'm upgrading my Pearl to a Bold 9700... My daughter has a regular cell phone... Can I just insert her SIM Card into the Pearl and give her the Pearl to use as a regular phone without the T-Mobile Blackberry plan? :?

TMobile is not currently doing that. You can use a smartphone on TMo without getting charged. Let's hope it stays that way too.

Actually Tmobile only requires data plans for (new account) BBs except for Pearl and Pearl Flip. But if you already have a BB they do not force you onto a data plan like other carriers.

My Daughter just thinks my Pearl is "cool" and does not need the email or web browsing stuff at all... 8-)

By the way - Just got the 9700 last night - SWEET!!! :bb: But, that's for another thread... ;-)

I recently got a 8130 free from Sprint to upgrade/change the phone on her (my) account; no data plan required on the Pearl, new or upgrade, or replacement for that matter.
