Hi all,
I am fairly new here and i have only recently purchased a Blackberry 8310.
Was wondering if anyone could advise me on how i can install or get MSN Messenger onto my device.

Thanks in advance.

www blackberry.com/instantmessaging

On your BB go to www.blackberry.com/instantmessaging
Then click the search button at the bottom. You should then get a list of messaging apps that will work with you phone. Windows Live Messenger should be in the list, just click the download link and follow the instructions, and you should be good to go in no time. :)

hmmm this is confusing.

On the site it says the following:

--------------------------------------------------------------
Getting Windows Live Messenger on Your BlackBerry Smartphone

If the Windows Live Messenger icon is already on your home screen after you register your BlackBerry smartphone, all you have to do is click the icon and follow the instructions to install the service2.
---------------------------------------------------------------

I dont have an icon on my desktop - does this mean my network provider doesnt allow me to use it? I am with Vodafone here in the UK.

thanks

No, here in the USA, AT&T doesn't have the icon either, but if you follow my above directions it should still let you get it.

nice one - just followed your instructions and i only have the capabilities to download the bogus GTalk the Yahoo.

I wanted MSN - Damn!!!

thanks for your help.

hi there,
This might sound like a stupid question - but will using GTalk be chargeable?

thanks

Thanks a lot for the link... Never knew that was there.

I have been having problems sending email from my hotmail account (error saying "invalid email address") and signing into my MS Live Messenger (error saying "program failed") for the past week or two. I upgraded to the new version of MS Live Messenger and I am not sure if it was coincidence or not but it took care of all my problems.

Thanks.

Just for a followup, it only fixed the problem with MS Live Messenger... not with Hotmail's email issues. Here is the issue fix from Blackberry.

Is there a way to get MSN if your service provider does not have it? Right now I have an evaluation unit from RIM and it's a Curve 8320 and I get the following error.

Unsupported Device

Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirements that are needed to support Windows Live Messenger.

I just started getting that same error with ICQ today. Worked fine as of yesterday. So far not getting that error with any of the other messengers.

EQO.

Google them and use their software. It's brilliant and it's free.
