BlackBerry Security Software/apps

Is there any out there? (preferably free) applications or software for your blackberry/mobile phone that works like a security program on your computer..for example Norton anti virus, Mcafee, firewalls, those kind of things... some sort of app or program that will protect the info on your berry? Would be nice to know.. 8-)

There is no need for antivirus on BlackBerrys as there are no viruses or malware for them. Viruses that run on Windows do not run on a BlackBerry. Web exploits don't work on a BB either. Your device already has a firewall built in. You might check in Options > Security to see the settings. There are some security programs that are useful for remotely wiping the device if it gets stolen or lost. Check through the AfterMarket Software section for the discussions on them.

The best security for your device is to set a device password with a short time out.

Set a password, don't forget it.

The BlackBerry also has a built in firewall.

There has been no virus on the BlackBerry yet.

You can enable content protection if you want to encrypt your information when the BlackBerry is locked. (Might be a bit of over kill though)

wish there was a simple app for storing pictures or other media, documents, or files that was pw protected. Or something where you could password protect a certain folder. Seems like it wouldnt be hard to develop and there is def been a demand for it. Filelock has been the only program ive seen and i'm sure theres got to be a better way.
