OS: 9000 4.6.0.378 / 4.6.0.224 (East Asian + English)

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.378 from DoCoMo
(Contains English)
This OS will load to ANY carrier's 9000 model by following the instructions below.

Package Version: 4.6.0.378
Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.6.0.224
* Software Platform: 4.0.0.187
* File name: 9000jEastAsia_PBr4.6.0_rel378_PL4.0.0.187_A4.6.0.2 24.exe
* File size: 97.3MB

(This download is a zipfile and will decompress to the .exe file stated above)
Download here: http://smartphone.nttdocomo.co.jp/fa...old_460224.zip

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

I'm guessing by your post count this is legit, Has anyone tried this yet?

Raptor464 02-27-2009 10:45 PM

Obviously its legit if its been stickied by JSanders.

JSanders 02-27-2009 10:49 PM

Yep, legit.

Thanks, raptor, stickied. :)

(by the way, 4mynikka, at BBForums, we only Sticky the latest OS, as it is released by a carrier. And only the 'legit' versions! ;-) )

So I don't have to uninstall the older OS i have installed for it on my machine first, just install the newer one and it will automatically know to update that one, after I delete the vendor.xml file?

Yes sir.

I rarely uninstall an older OS until I feel the new one is up and running. If you wanted to downgrade back to the most recent OS, just uninstall the newer OS from your PC Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

For some reason, user 4mynikka above asked if this was a legit OS. Scroll up, read the thread.

It looks like this OS was released by a carrier in Japan. Any chance that the OS was related to the recall there?

The recall had to do with the devices themselves, not the OS.

JSanders 02-28-2009 09:25 AM

No. The device was recalled, not the OS.

This OS release has been floating around in beta with no issues reported.

Bluetooth DUN

Anybody know if this version or even .221 supports Bluetooth DUN?

sheldonbk 02-28-2009 09:54 AM

hari_jan20 02-28-2009 10:46 AM

How can I find out what's new in this OS and what are the fixes?

MidnightDraven 02-28-2009 10:50 AM
