What do you recommend for starters.

I just jumped on board, recently bought 8310 from HK, which will arrive in 10 days time.

Before staring to use the device, what would you recommend me to do?

-Upgrade to latest OS?
-Things to know beforehand?
-Must have applications?

Any help will be appreciated.

Search and read stinsonddogs tips

Do those first and the rest of your questions will likely be answered

I'd say it really depends on what you want to use your BB for. I use Jivetalk, Google Sync to sync my calendar. I also have a bunch of pictures and videos for when I'm bored. I have a pretty updated autotext memory base since I'm kind of lazy sometimes (especially for writing my own e-mail address, tlphone number, web albums, websites, etc.). Facebook's a fun application. SMS2MAIL is a must have, it automatically e-mails a copy of all incomming SMS's to an e-mail address of your choice! Great way to never have to worry about deleting ;). Hope this helps :)

Also, familiarize yourself with the keyboard shortcuts, save a lot of time :)

No need to upgrade the OS first. Just enjoy it first.
Have fun!

I don't think there is a newer OS for the 8310, is there?

Just read Stinsonddog's tips and learn the shortcuts. They'll make using it much more productive and enjoyable. And get a memory card. 2GB should be perfect.
