BBeXtras - Umm...?

What happened? I was just on the site and *bam* everything disappeared and now nothing works. Wallpapers abound on the main site, but all references to 'Themes' have disappeared completely. I know it was debated and rumored when the L Dimension and other themes started surfacing that there was a violation of NDA, etc., but nothing really ever came of that aside from the BBeXtras claiming they had modified Theme Builder's output (admittedly, I didn't keep up with the fiasco after that point, so perhaps something more came out of that). Anyhow, did this end up being an actual infringement on RIM's intellectual property? Looks like they stopped selling a few hours ago and now have removed all references to themes just now. Seems odd.

The site was legit, RIM feels different, who am I to defend?

Sorry to hear this

I bought 2 themes from there and loved them. Wish the site allowed for Desktop Manager install and I would still have the files now in case, my BB needs wiping and I can reload. Anyway to "backup" these themes so I can reload?

muck 01-18-2008 01:52 AM

what does this mean to those who purchased the themes and need to reload them on to their bb's after they do a software upgrade peteR?

Javaloader works very well with extracting/loading .cod files from and to your devices.

That's really sucky. I bought a theme and had my bb wiped and now I can't re-download it. Not cool.

As with anything you purchase, you should turn to the seller. His site is not down, just the themes. Only he can say directly to you whether he can make good on your matter.

That is a bummer. When the themes first came out, I wasn't too keen on the price but they were really well designed and I ended up buying the winter one.

Sad to see them gone... I bought the Leopard one and might have bought one or two more.

mriff 01-18-2008 04:31 PM

Man, I wish I had grabbed that modified today theme. I did get the L theme and love it. Oh well. Good luck Peter.

No, you use javaloader to install the .cod file.

javaloader.exe -u load [FILENAME].cod

peter, i think for those who have purchased themes that we have no access to anymore, a statement as to what has happened to the themes would be much appreciated.

ezrunner 01-18-2008 08:23 PM

This sux!!!!!!

Peter best of luck! I think you were doing fantastic work for the BB community. RIM should rethink
