The whole story on 72XX themes
I am trying to piece together the whole story about themes for the 72XX model BlackBerry phones. I have the ugly Vodaphone theme and the Orange theme, but I really want the o2 theme! From what I gather no one has the development tools for themes and therefore there are not any new themes being created by the BlackBerry culture. Is this correct?
On a side note, what is the big deal with the BlackBerry 7100 phones? I don't like their keyboards. It seems like they are a big deal lately. I wouldn't trade my 7250 for one! |
the 7100s are sleek. But I agree with you on the keyboard. I've got a 7290

If you find any decent themes out there in your search please post them> like you i think the orange and vodaphone themes are junk.
My spin on the latest bb craze the 7100 is that it appears to be a good crossover phone/bb for people upgrading from motorolas or nokias. About 2 weeks ago I bought a 7100 G and a week later traded it in for the 7290. Never going back!! |

I agree. I think it's a way to market the BlackBerry to those consumers who may be less than pleased with the current standard BB configuration. It's a BlackBerry for someone who wants a "regular" cell phone. |
On the other side, I have some users switched over to the 7100g and are typing and sending email faster than the good old form factor but with only ONE hand.

7100 = consumer product
72xx = prosumer product Its really as simple as that. The providers were given the ability to develop new themes and test them with the OS. If they were to release a theme development tool, and someone on here developed a theme for the handhelds, I wouldn't install it on mine - stability is key. Some themes have been reported as slower than others with the provider-developed themes, so I can only imagine what it'd be like if one of you all were to obtain that ability... ;-) |
