8310, Geotagging, no "View on Map" option

Even with the BBMaps workaround for AT&T BB's, I don't have the "View on Map" option when looking at my pictures. I would really like to have this work, but until a workaround is found or I get a Javelin (yes I will switch to T-Mobile for the Javelin (AT&T lost a Bold sale when they crippled the GPS)) I'll just have to use flickr...

C'est la vie!

If anyone knows of a workaround I would be delighted to know what it is!

Thanks in advance,

Myk

What are you talking about? The Bold is not even released on AT&T yet so how could they cripple the GPS? and again why would they? the 8310 is not crippled so what reason would they have to do that on the Bold?

AT&T doesn't allow use of BBMaps with their devices.
The GPS gives you geotagging options for pictures. With proper BBMaps integration you have a "view on map" option in the menu when looking at geotagged pictures.
There's a work-around for BBMaps on AT&T but it's not complete.
So, even though I can geotag and can use BBMaps, because AT&T has a no BBMaps policy I don't have the full functionality of the phone available to me.
With T-Mobile, I can get slightly more completeness in the phones functionality. Now that T-Mob is releasing a GPS and WiFi capable BlackBerry (Javelin), I'll have all the functionality and features I desire. A great device becomes less great when you block functionality.
Cheers!

You can load BBMaps on your 8310, there is a work around to load it using the older version, in our GPS Mapping section. The version of BBMaps requires a Service Book, the older does not.

I knew about the BBMaps workaround...no offense..

What I was looking for was something that would enable the "view on map" feature to work... It seems that with the workaround BBMaps it doesn't have the compatibility with geotagging...

Just something I noticed...

BTW 8310, 4.5.0.69, flickr, docs to go v 1.002, and nothing else (besides the BBMaps workaround version)...

If anyone has any ideas I would be super grateful!

Thanks!

I believe you must have the newer version of BBMaps to enable the view on maps function.

Good enough. :)
