Can't unlock with correct password

I set a password on my blackberry and was able to unlock it with the password that I set, several times (it showed asterisks when I typerd it in).

Now, when I type it in, it shows letters or numbers, and I have 2 tries left!

Is there some way to get the asterisks back? Thanks!

Do you have a backup? After the tenth attempt it will wipe. Because the keboard is SureType are you sure you are choosing the correct letters?

And Welcome!

I'm not sure about this one, it's just a hunch... but is it possible that it's showing you what you type instead of just *** as to help you get it right?

That's what I would think... I could be wrong :P

Well regardless, the BlackBerry won't change your password on its on.

I had an issue with the keyboard doin' funny things. If I hit "e", it would input q and e in quick succession as if I hit both buttons at once, and I almost wiped my BB accidentally this way.

Fixed itself with a battery pull.

thanks for the suggestions. to be clear: it used to show me what letter or number, and then change to an asterisk. now it shows me the letter or number, and stays that way. i think that's why it doesn't recognize the correct password.

After you enter the wrong password several times it will start showing you what you typed. At some point in the process it will also prompt you to type the word "Blackberry" to help confirm that you don't have a keyboard issue. FYI.

I had 2 users with this same issue on the same day this weekend. That seems a bit much for coincidence. Is there, perhaps, some bug with BES or the devices (8830)?
