8900 German version, need to change to US version

Hi Everyone:

I'm not sure if there's a thread for this already or not but I just bought an 8900 Javelin and it's from Germany. Some of the things on the phone are still in German even after you set the language to US-English. T-mobile said that the phone is pre-set to that language and since the phone didn't come out in the US yet, they can't help me.
Can anyone tell me how I can change everything over to US-English language? Also, the volume of the ringer is low, can that be fixed in anyway?
Thanx sooo much for your help and time:)

No, you cannot convert it. You will need to get a Rogers or T-Mobile edition Javelin.

Have you tied loading the newer OS if you only need new language options?

All RIM OSs include english.

The OP will still have the wonderful QWERTZ keyboard though...

Absolutely, but the main question was in regard to languages and what Tmobile stated in regard to changing the language.

Of course, I do know that changing an OS is not going to rearrange and/or repaint the keyboard.

Which of the things on the phone are still in German? All of my Blackberries (including a T-Mobile Curve 8900) are German models set to US English and I never noticed any remaining German items except for those I expressly chose to keep (such as Input Language). I did, however, update the OS.
