Curve 8320 Upgrade

Thinking about upgrading my BB 8320 from 4.2 to 4.5, what changes come with the 4.5 upgrade? I'm having an issue with my curve restarting while on a call... could this take care of it?

Also, rumor has it with the upgrade I can now take video... does this mean I can watch video now too? I can't watch anything on youtube...

Any insight on the changes would be appreciated!

Yes, you should upgrade to OS 4.5. Tmobile has it on their web site.

No, you can't watch youtube even after the upgrade.

So the upgrade should take care of my restart issue?

So what are the differences between the two, what am I gaining besides be able to TAKE video, yet I still can't WATCH video.

Is there anyway, to watch youtube at all?? I know about m.youtube

Wirelessly posted

Youtube works on 4.5 as far as I know.

Hi, When you upgrade to 4.5, you should be able to view Youtube videos, record video, use the Blackberry as a voice recorder, receive HTML E-Mail, You will see a new start screen when you go to the Internet. Best to try it and I am sure you will like it.
Thanks!!

It's really worth it!

The HTML is a huge improvement over the 4.2 version. That alone is worth the upgrade if you get lots of HTML emails. You don't have to keep hunting for the text hidden in all the link paths.

I thought you could view youtube by going to a different website like m.youtube.com or something similar.

Less interesting to some is the addition of Documents to Go so you can view Word document and Excel spreadsheets.

I don't do it a lot but you can certainly watch youtube on your curve with the 4.5 upgrade.

Monkeypaw... the upgrade comes with Docs2Go? I have tried m.youtube.com and still nothing with 4.2 it says there is an error of some sort.

Any other differences between the two? I'm more scared of messing up the BB with the upgrade than anything, I've never done anything to it before all my downloads took place online through the phone.

It comes with a usable version of Docs2Go that allows editing of Word and PowerPoint documents. If you check for updates and register at their website, it will download a new version that will add Excel capability. No credit card or anything required, it's just registration.

On 4.5 I was able to view youtube on m.youtube.com.

The install is not so bad. The worst that ever happened to me was one install didn't work and I got some 503 error or something. So I had to install the prior version again. But that was literally the 6th or 7th upgrade I had done on this same phone and I think I had stopped the install part way through. I've upgraded it many times since then. And even went back to 4.2.2.179 (I think) and up to 4.5 again.

Just set aside about 1 1/2 hours, backup the device, and follow the instructions. It might look like it's messed up during the process, but let it run it's course and do what it needs to. It has to restart a couple times and it'll go white, turn off, etc. for seemingly long periods of time. I usually watch tv or browse the internet on a different computer so I don't get impatient.

A10TXChick, As monkeypaw said if you follow the instructions you should be okay, we are all here to help you. Give it time while there will be times that it looks like the OS upgrade may be frozen, let it keep doing it's thing, pour a glass of fine wine, some cheese perhaps and you will have 4.5 loaded.
