Unlocked phone never registers

I bought a new in box 8310 this past Saturday. It was sold strictly as is no returns. Of course I tested it out in the store (a flea market) and it worked fine with my sim card.

Well I get home and go to setup the email and spend about an hour on the phone with att before she says my phone must be defective.

It has att written on the actual phone, and the splash is att.

It was sold as "unlocked".

I can never get an EDGE to come up for email or phone registration but the sim card works in my brother's pearl.

The internet and text messaging work just fine.

I paid almost 300 bucks for this damn phone mainly to have reliable handheld email access! This is the whole point of it for me! Help please!

Is there a way to "relock" the phone back to att only?!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Curve 8320)

Once unlocked you can not lock again

any suggestions for how to get it to receive registration links and email setup?

The att support entered the phone's id numbers, it was showing up in their system as the correct model.

We finally tried to wipe the phone and start over but still no luck. The phone is pretty much worthless to me without email. And they said that my protection plan is no longer valid! Yay!

Being unlocked is not the problem. It will work on the original network just fine.

Explain what happened again. If worked fine when you bought it and then didn't once you got home? So is it only showing lower case edge then and not capital EDGE? Or does it not show any service at all?

Do you have a BlackBerry data plan?

i think the issue here is that the PIN and IMEI are still assigned to the old persons account so therefore the OP cannot register the device on his/her BIS

I think dc/dc has said it, it sounds like you havn't got a Blackberry data plan.

Give AT&T a shout and ask them to make sure you have their BlackBerry/BIS data plan on your account.
