Rogers APN issue

Hi all,

I've read the threads on this forum and many others about the Rogers APN settings and in the past it had helped me get one of my custom applications working on my Blackberry 8310 (OS 4.5.0.55).

Yesterday I opened my application, which connects to a host server via a URL, and I started to get the following error message when connecting: "No Host [2020]; Cannot connect to Host:Timed out." This has been working prior for the last 6 months!

I have tried changing the APN to various different usernames and passwords as recommended by forum posts, even completely removing it, but I still get the same message. The one that worked before was internet.com with a username of wapuser1 and password wap.

I can browse the internet through the browser and I can connect to my host system through my application if i use a MDS simulator and blackberry simulator from RIM through my workstation.

I don't want to have to call Rogers because when I mention APN they don't know what I'm talking about. I'm hoping that someone on here may have some answers or help!!

I'm with Rogers, and you don't need to enter in any APN settings to your phone. Just leave it all blank and it should be fine.

If you do have to call Rogers, talk to Tech Support in BlackBerry/iPhone department. They are the ones that have the knowledge in these phones and the software to send service books etc.

Ok so then is this something new in the past few weeks? It took me forever to figure out that an APN had to be used in order for me to connect through my application to a host server. Now, APN or no APN I cannot connect to my host server through my application. I'm a little leery to your comment as this is what tech support's told me before which is why I don't like calling. I'm telling you that I had to use an APN to connect.

Rogers APN is internet.com but the username and password are both blank.

The solution to this problem was uninstalling my application and reinstalling. After that it connected to the Rogers network no problems at all. Very strange!

Ok, so you're with Rogers.... So what's the story on the lack of UMA support for the 9700?? Is this a short-term network issue, or a knuckle-headed management policy decision? :-(

I think you'll find DataCentre meant they are also on the Rogers network, not that they work for Rogers.
