Bold or Javelin?
Want to upgrade from my 8800 which is a better phone the Bold or the Javelin thanks.

Wirelessly posted (Wohoo! I'm mobile!)
Just depends on what you want in the device. The Bold is more the size of the 8800. The Jav will be smaller than your used to. Is there any wants or things that you don't want? |
The Javelin doesn't support 3G, here in The Netherlands is will make a differents if you will internet on your BB. And personally i like the keybord of the Bold more than the Javelin.
And the Javelin has a 524 mh processor and the Bold 624 mh processor so it is faster ;) |
What BCollins said-this really comes down to personal preference. I would suggest visiting a couple of retail stores, or finding freinds or relatives who have each, and playing with each device, asking questions.

Here are my two cents:
Both are great devices with nice processors, screens, functionality, etc. If a good camera is important to you - get the Javelin/8900 (it has 3.2mp camera). If faster internet browsing is important to you - get the Bold (it has 3G) . Both are awesome quality BlackBerrys. Realistically, you will probably love either one. |
does the javelin work on cdma networks?
|
If you are planning on using it on T-Mobile in the US, 3G currently doesn't make a difference, since an unlocked Bold will operate on EDGE only on T-Mo.
Keep in mind that if you get a Bold, you would also need to get it unlocked since it is an AT&T device. As for the preference, that is entirely up to you and what you need and how you like either one. Features would be pretty close I would think. |
i just wanna share why did i choose javelin over bold:
1. 256 megs of javelin is a huge huge space for me to install almost anything and leave my thousands of emails 2. 3 mp autofocus camera is very nice for me to replace my nokia n95 3. higher screen resolution makes it very nice to read even though the size is smaller than bold |
I would recommend the 8900. I have it, and I absolutely love it. I don't miss 3G, at all. I love the camera, 256mb of space allows me to install pretty much anything that I want, without fear of running out of space. The screen resolution is amazing, and it feels great in your hands.

another vote for 8900 here. great device and not as much of a brick as the bold.
|
I had a 8330. Went to the bold for a day.... Then got a 8900 and haven't looked back.
I love the camera. and UMA is cool too. |
I have had both, pretty much as said above, however note that the Bold battery goes quickly on 3G, any type of internet usage at all means a recharge every day or two.
If you like the bigger device and want to browse at faster speeds the bold is better, but for a walk-about phone/email device the 8900 is much more handy. |

I have the 8900 and have pondered the 9000 as well, based on my preferences and research it was a clear choice. As for performance (processors, 3G) you will not notice it one bit.

I love the 8900 and would select this phone as my choice any day. I use the uma all the time and wifi so have not missed 3G on the phone as the speed has always been great. Even when I was away a few weeks ago in a poor signal area the phone still did everything fast at great speed. |
I used both of them for couple of months each and now I'm back to Bold.
Bold is a much better built than 8900. 8900 feels like a toy, wheras Bold is solid and works much faster. Really a fan of Bold. |

I had a Bold for around 4 months, Now I'm on Day 2 with the 8900. I miss the Bold for the following reasons:
3G- better browsing and in my opinion better call quality Battery- I actually think the Bold Lasts a little longer Keyboard - better on the Bold I'll be keeping the 8900 though because of the size. I like the fact that its pocketable, aside from that it's the bold all the way. I never use the camera so the extra pixel means nothing to me. If they every make a hybrid of the two devices it will be the Perfect Blackberry. |
Bold's processor is faster, but when we hand on both, it doesn't make big difference.
