Question about Data Plans with Verizon

I just got a new BlackBerry Storm, and I want to know what my limitations are with getting Verizon's 29.99$/month Web and Email plan. Will I be able to use AIM or other apps I download free of charge? or will there be a data fee? I searched the verizon site, but it seems devoid of the information I am looking for. Any links to pertinent information would be appreciated.

Thanks!

If it is the BB data plan, that should cover all your data cost other than tethering. Doesn't include SMS however.

Okay, good to hear.
So the main difference between that and the BlackBerry Connect, which is 44.99$/mo (unlimited data) is that I cannot tether? Are there any other restrictions I should be weary of?

Thanks again for the help

You got it. And if you want tethering, you can buy TetherBerry(.com) for a one-time fee and keep your Verizon bill at $29.99. Technically, using TetherBerry is a violation of your VZW Terms of Service. But, numerous people have reported that they have called VZW Customer Service and been told that TB is okay to use.

I'm no Verizon Rep., but I recall hearing that the $44.99 plan is needed for a BES.

Check out the chart at the bottom. Should answer your questions.

Correct, the $44.95 plan is for BES connections, the $29.99 is for personal/BIS.

Cannot and will not promote such apps as TetherBerry. If you chose to use it, you should be able to stand the consequences.

thanks for the clarification, my main fear was just downloading applications such as AIM and Yahoo chat and then finding out I had been using data that was not covered in my current plan.

You won't have any issues with using the data applications on the device itself (AIM, Yahoo, BlackBerry Browser, etc) with your Verizon BlackBerry Plan. They will be covered on the device.
