Install Thai Language in Your Blackberry
Follow this link below.
http://pdamobiz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=202280 My Curve 8300 work very well. All credit to "xenon_art". What a genious guy? |
I don't think he's really a genius unless he's installing Thai on a device that couldn't have it before. Many devices are able to have Thai without using a special software.

Think negative will help noone.
Think we can do it but hiding because we're afraid of someone look down on us. Anyone successful installing? Show yourself please. |

Thanks a lot for posting this. I have been looking for thai support for the longest time.
Since the website is in thai, I'd like to contribute to this by translating the method I used to load thai into my curve 8320. 1. Download JL_Cmder by googling for it 2. Extract the file and in the extracted folder, look for JavaLoader.exe and copy it into c:\ 3. Download net_rim_font_thai.cod (again you should be able to find this by googling for it. I'm sorry but my post count is not high enough to post links here.) and save this file same place as JavaLoader.exe from step #2. This is the file that will load into your BB phone when we execute step #4 and is the file which allows you to read thai (not sure if you can type thai though) 4. connect your phone via usb to your computer, then go to Start->Run-> type ". Then in the dos window, type in cd c:\ to change the dos directory to the c drive, then key in JavaLoader -usb load net_rim_font_thai.cod (note space infront of dash, not case sensitive) You shld see some kind of file loading being executed and once it is done, your phone will restart and viola, it will be able to display thai (you wld not be able to select thai in the language options but it will display thai properly) Hope this helps!!! PS: My bold is from Starhub (Singapore) and it comes preloaded with Thai. My guess is for those who want thai in their bold to dl and install the OS from starhub at blackberry's North American website for downloading phone OS |
This is cool. I think the prior way to get Thai was a paid service. I hope they add this to the OS releases in the future as an option.
The only problem is it doesn't work with my favorite font - BBAlpha Sans in regular font style size 9. There's too much head space above the font so it pushes the text down and cuts of the bottom of the letters in lists like email subjects. It also doesn't work in size 7 or 8. All the other fonts and BBAlpha Sans in bold or italic seem fine. Or in font size 10 and up. |
My apologies, my first post step #4 should read connect your phone via usb to your computer, then go to Start->Run-> type "cmd"
|
Hi monkeypaw, I had the same problem too after loading thai in. I suppose that's the small price I had to pay but being able to read thai instead of black squares is much worth the font sacrifice for me!
