Problems With Your Dm For Mac? Post Here!
I thought I'd start this thread so we can list all the problems everyone is having with DM for Mac in one place.
Apologies to the Forum Gods if this seems redundant but it would be nice to have all of this in one place. I use Entourage and at first I thought I couldn't sync from my BB to Entourage but then I discovered what was happening. If I added a contact to my BB and did a Sync it when into my Mac Addy book. I then had to restart Entourage and the contact was there. This is an issue I hope Rim works out. And for the life of me I can't figure out how to get my Group Emails to get on my BB. They won't even sync from Entourage to Address Book on my Mac. Thus they don't get on to my BB. Other then that the software works great. This post might go away but I hope it helps. Goodluck to all, sbbytor |
BDM could not connect to the update server
I've installed DM on a MacBookPro running Snow Leopard and managed to sync a Verizon 9630 and an o2 8900. When connected, the 9630 also checks (unsuccessfully) for an OS update and allows installation of software packages. But when the 8900 is connected, it briefly flashes the applications screen and reports the error:
BDM could not connect to the update server. There may be a problem with your network connection or the server is not responding. Please try again later. Anyone else seeing this response? JPB |
I have two accounts in Entourage. However, BDM does not sync all of my contacts. I've tried changing the default email account; but I have still be unsuccessful. Guess I better use an old backup to restore my contacts.

Hope RIM fixes this issue. |
I have wasted so much time now trying to correctly sync my Calendar Events, Contacts, Tasks & Notes between my BB Curve 8320 and Entourage on my Macbook Pro. It shouldn't be this way. I have iSync Services on, although I do not subscribe to Mobile Me, nor does iSync recognize my Curve. And Ixxx8217;ve selected "Add events created on BB device to Entourage. However, I get plenty of inconsistencies.
For instance, If I move appointments in Entourage, sometimes they show up moved in iCal, and sometimes they donxxx8217;t. If they are moved in iCal, they will show up moved on my Curve after I sync. If they remain in iCal, they remain on my Curve. So clearly this sounds like a communication error between Entourage and iCal. The only way I've been able to resolve this is by deleting all events in iCal, then having iSync build the list again. Ixxx8217;ve also received double notes on my Curve, but they only show up once in Entourage. I donxxx8217;t have Entourage Notes syncing with Mobile Me checked since I donxxx8217;t have Mobile Me. So how is the BB syncing with Entourage? And why are the notes doubling? And why does RIM release something without having solutions for us? |
I just tried updating my OS through the Mac Desktop Manager. It failed half way through and my Tour displayed the Reload Software 507 screen. Looks like it's time to unlimber that old ThinkPad and restore from a backup. Glad I don't yet trust the new Mac version to handle things - that's why I have been running backups in parallel with the Mac software on the ThinkPad/Windows version. :-)

has anyone found that the Profiles arent backing up? I keep getting errors that my Profile database cannot be backed up. Or is there a setting or step i've missed.
thanks |
Nope. Every time I backup, I get the message that one data base could not be backed up - profiles.
|
Ok so I'm not alone then. Anyone know if this is a limitation with the Mac DM or if there's a way to get around it.
|
I gave up on syncing using Outlook/Entourage/iCal/etc. and just use Google sync for contacts and calendar. Can update multiple devices with no problems other than an occasional dupe.

So if you are not using the DM for Mac, what backup program are you using that works well to back up everything?

I'm using the latest version of DM 5.0.1 I believe. I tried to update my 8220 to the latest OS... it loaded almost all the way, then said that the BB was disconnected (it was not). Then got the dreaded 507 screen. After 2 hours with tech support and trying to reload the OS using the mac, one my PCs, cmd line methods, etc. the device was determined to be bricked. So basically watch out if you've got DM for mac and a 8220. |
Synchronizing with DM and Entourage, my BB ends up with no more than one email address and phone number in every contact although there may be two or three of each in Entourage. I haven't found anyway to check the mapping. Any suggestions?
|
When installing DM on Snow Leopard, I choose the multiple pc option. When I sync everything seems to go fine, except EVERYTHING gets duplicated. Contacts, calendar items...etc. Frustrating, but it is their first attempt. Should give them credit for even trying. I would also like to know the mapping and if its adjustable. It may be partly my fault as my main pc is my Ubuntu desktop. The options of syncing in linux are even less! I also would like to be able to bluetooth sync to either or both. Pipe dreams. :-)

DON'T use the DM (1.0.1) for Mac
Downloaded it last night and it failed @ the 50% mark.
Sent my 8130 into "Brick" mode Took an hour to unbrick  Lost: Browser Apps - Games - Calendar Contacts - and more Do Not use DM for BB for Mac (v1.0.1) until Blackberry puts out a patch. If you are brave and still want to use it - MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A WORKING BACKUP. iMac G5 OS v10.6 Snow Lep |

Just realized this doesn't support iPhoto syncs - jeez, even PocketMac could do that. And when I try doing it through the Windows DM, "Media Manager" is grayed out although BB Media Sync is active - anyone know why that would be? Is there a minimum OS required for Media Manager? Thanks

I can't get calendar items created on 9700 to sync back to iCAL. Annoying.
When is the new outlook for mac arriving, please. |
