Dead boot rom?, Not booting at all 8120 Pearl
Hello BB forum, - hope someone can shed some light on this one...
Ive read other posts regarding bricked and nuked BB's / 8120's / Pearls and tried the suggestions.. So far my situation is, - I tried to un-install a twitter prog from the handset, and it needed to restart. Since it switched off for that restart, it has been dead, - No red flashing LED - No white screen or 507 or any screen activity - Using the apploader I get as far as 'Wait for device initialization' - I have DM version 5.0 installed on XP, and have the latest handset version ready to go on to it, dowloaded from BB - The handset is recognised as a usb device 'Blackberry Smart phone' and thats about my lot.. no other apparent signs of life, Battery voltage is 3.74v, so not too bad there.. All ideas and suggestions v much appreiciated.. Cheers Will |

Plug it into the computer without a battery installed. Post back what happens |
Hi dankarlinski,
Thanks for the quick response, - without the battery, its the same results, - ie: unable to go beyond 'waiting for device initialization' Ive also just tried DM v4.7 and using a desktop PC, - (was previously trying on a laptop.. also no improvement. Cheers Will |

So, to confirm, whether you plug it into the wall or compy(using any usb port), and whether or not the battery is in, you get no screen flash, red light etc? |
Hi dankarlinski,
Yep, thats correct... no screen flash, red light etc, - my worry is that there is a boot rom or eeprom that has become corrupt.. I have also tried JL_cmder to get any kind of response/reaction.. but again nothing Cheers Will |

Well, as far as I know, you cannot access the eeprom without a specific program. This program is illegal to have as it is a RIM leak. We cannot mention it, but I can tell u it is out there if u really want to try it |

Thankyou for the response BB Tech Support,
After hunting around, I realised the handset is just inside its 90day warranty from the supplier, (it was a sim free purchase), luckily they are happy to organise a replacement. Big Phew. |
