OS 6 Compatiblity : What is it compatible with?
 

As it presently stands, there is no compatibility list or minimum specifications to run the operating system. Once the operating system is released, and more information trickles in we will update this thread.

At present it is assumed that OS 6 will have minimum specifications in the following categories:

• Screen resolution
• Processor speed
• Memory size

As usual, there will not be support for legacy devices that are at EOL (End of Life)

Third last paragraph gives a bit of info.

i am using a Curve8900, was trying to upgrade it from ver 5 to 6.0_1175325, it says this action of updates will take about an hour and disconnecting it will cause the device to be unusable, it is 12 hours now, the upgrading still ongoing, can someone assist?

I don't think you're going to upgrade an 8900 to OS 6 - don't know what you are doing there....no OS 6 is out for that BB yet...

I got to do a demo with a live torch today, its a great device and exceeded my initial expectations for sure. And I heard it right out of the mouth of a RIM rep that the OS 6 update is only being developed at the moment for the 9100, 9300, 9700 and as you already know is being supported by the torch. It should be within the next few weeks when we might be able to expect the new software to roll out for the other 3 devices I had mentioned.

That is a great news/rumor and hope this becomes true. thanks g-off. 9700 is so far the best device because I won one -:) but BBOS6 could give it a long due makeover.

No problem joginder, I know that I'm incredibly anxious for the os upgrade and when I got the info from a RIM employee I had to share it with everyone. It was a relief to find out that it is going to be supported on the 9300 because I was starting to kick myself for not getting the 9700. :)

I downloaded OS6 for my 9330 and so far so good anyone that wants to BBM me my pin is 3256c9c3

Supposedly, it will run on the 9700. Nothing has dropped as of today. Lots of speculation as to when it will but ultimately, the providers are the only ones that know.

i 've been failed Upgrdae to OS 6 on my Storm 2...Somebody help me...

I have not seen 6.0 out for the 9550. It is out for the 9650. What model BB do you have?

BB6 will not be released for Storm2.

I sure hope you are wrong, my friend will not be happy.

Right now I am not concerned with the new OS as it didnt upgraded for my device. Using the old one since long and the OS is stable and meets all of my needs. The new OS looks cool, but if I wanted looks I would have buyed iPhone or android device. I like my phone just the way it is. :)
