99xx Accessory Discussion

So now that we've all shelled out our hard-earned cash for the latest shiny kit, its time to start accessorizing. I'm looking for desktop charging cradles and a clipless slip-in sleeve for pocket carry.

The belt case that comes with the Bold Touch is pretty nice but I prefer the clipless style. Sprint stores have the Otterbox case for the 99xx already but I'm not a fan. Great protection but it adds considerable bulk.

It's still too early for a lot of accessories to be available, but I thought a running discussion of who got what and where might be in order.

Amazon has some cases and skins, as do BlackBerrySource and SeidioOnline. I'm holding out for a nice sleek leather slip-in sleeve though. I'd like another by Fortte but they don't have anything out yet. All the others I've seen don't offer the kind of protection I want. So my search begins.

Here's the style of cradle I'm looking for:

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

I bought the sliding case with kickstand from Verizon. It protects the face of the phone and provides the usual rotating clip with a kickstand. It was $29.95 but I get 35% off access w/my company so it was around $20.

I'm waiting for RIM to release the external battery charger. I like to carry several batteries instead of plugging in my phone all the time. I already have 2 batteries but it's a pain to keep using the phone as the only charger. In time that will change though.

That Verizon charging stand works for me. I will head to a Verizon store tomorrow and check it out. I will probably come home with 2 or 3 if they're as nice as they look in the pictures.

The good thing about the new Bold Touch and an extra battery is the fast startup time. It's got to be less than a minute now where my 9650 took closer to 5 minutes.

Rambo- Which charger are you referring to? This one?

I must say, this case that they carry has been great with the kickstand!

I am getting this hard case...
ebay number...380337534579

I ordered a pouch and when it arrived it was really tight, so tight in fact that instead of using it on the Blackberry it's now nicely holding my Nexus solar handsfree unit, protecting it's solar panel back....(y)

The hard case is the same as one I had on old keypad phone, and over 2 yrs later the phone and screen still look like brand new.

It's transparent, and the only part of the phone not covered is the keypad. Of course there is a little gap for the charger, headset etc. Back and front just clip together, and there's no need for any stick on screen things that invariably get bubbles...:)

Should be ariving today and can't wait to put it on my BB to protect it..:)

Official Accessories for the 99xx
BlackBerry Accessories Store - RIM CA

BlackBerry Bold 9930/9900 Leather Pocket

BlackBerry Bold 9930/9900 Starter Bundle

Sorry that I've linked the Canadian store with relative pricing.

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

I went to a Verizon store and bought their last three desktop charging stands. Three accessories gets you a 35% discount so all three were just under $80 ($29.99 each). Funny that the internal plastic wrap around the stand itself is just like Apple accessories.

Jagga, the sleeve you linked to is nice, but it leaves the top of the screen exposed ever so slightly. I'm holding out for something like that but with the entire BlackBerry slipping down to be completely covered. Just a space on each side to grab the device on it's edges to whip it out.

Top of the screen is exposed so the notification light can be read without pulling it out. The sides are lower so you can have headphones plugged in while holstered and to allow for some grip to get it out. Older Bolds needed the phone to be half holstered half exposed for the audio port to be accessible.

I hate swivel cases so i have the OEM pocket holster posted above from RIM.
Really tight fit (expected to give way with use), and nearly impossible to pull the handset out without pressing hard on the side buttons.

And on a side note, how's the sound while docked rambo? Since the speaker is located at the bottom and goes muffled if covered.

And now that you're all set up and accessorised i expect a full review from you with HD pics and all. ;-) (y)

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

Anyone update with what accessories anyone has landed on for the phone? I am wanting a new case other than the one that came with the phone since that has allowed some small scratches on the top beveled part.

Kind of liking something like this...

http://shop.crackberry.com/case-mate.../4A54A8816.htm

http://shop.crackberry.com/blackberr...4A123A8726.htm

http://shop.crackberry.com/case-mate.../4A54A8819.htm

Course none of them are available just yet.

BlackBerry Hard Shell Case for Bold 9930, Bold 9900 | BlackBerry Hard Cases | ShopCrackBerry

Case-Mate Tough Case for BlackBerry Bold 9930, Bold 9900 | BlackBerry Skin Cases | ShopCrackBerry

I got the one in your second link. Good protection, but unfortunately you have to slip it off (easy to do) to use the desktop charging cradle. They had it in my local Sprint store for $10. I'm still looking for a full coverage sleeve pocket. I don't want or need to see the notification light as I have custom alert tones to tell me everything I need to know about incoming messages.

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

Cool yeah Verizon is only showing an Otterbox and that shell/holster combo on their site. I might wonder into a local Sprint store here and pick up that one you have. I don't like the cases that are rubberized so I think those other two might not be for me. From what you have seen do you think this case will cause scratches down the road if dirt makes it way behind it? I guess that is the downfall to every case if some dirt gets down there and the case shifts from daily use you get some surface scratches.

I am hoping someone will build a cradle with a slot for the spare battery!

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

I went by the Verizon store again and the Sprint store and they didn't have anything. The Sprint store has the full Otterbox which is not what I am looking for and Verizon had the blue plaid hard case which is also not my style. Bestbuy had nothing what so ever, so I guess I am going to have to do trial and error from Amazon or Crackberry.

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

Ordered the Ottorbox Commuter case today from Amazon should be here mid next week, I think I will like that one since it is not rubber on the outside and will still come in and out of my pocket ok. I do not use the cradle so I am not going to be taking it in and our of the case so think this might be the way to go.

Has anyone tried the JM-1 Battery Charging Bundle yet? I was considering getting this since I have a bunch of batteries now. (I hate plugging in the phone!).

Re: 99xx Accessory Discussion

That is a pretty nice little package deal, I am not a heavy user to I can make it two days on one charge. Plus with the Ottorbox I have coming getting the battery in and out will become a pain. Still might be nice to have on long trips or something.
